Excess baggage

For some reason security knocked back an item I have carried on numerous times before ( maddening officiousness but I guess that's for another page ).
The item weighed 3 ounces and was about the length of my middle finger. Jetstar charged $60 to check this on and were totally unsympathetic and mostly unfriendly in doing so.

I can complete relate to your pain. Jetstar seems to treat their baggage "service" as a extremely successful profit center. They grab you by the short and curlies at the very last minute, when you have little choice but to throw away your personal possessions or cough up for their exorbitant charges. A pretty nasty way to conduct business.

Too right! I spoke with a Jetstar representative who informed me that purchasing the extra 20kg excess baggage add-on would cover the golf clubs and bag I wanted to take with me to Adelaide. I had no problem checking in my golf clubs and bag when leaving Sydney, "Under 20kg no problem sir".
Now It's time to check in to go back to Sydney from Adelaide Airport...
"Sorry sir, you have oversized baggage and you will have to pay $25.00 to get them home". I produce my printed receipt showing that I had paid for the 20kg excess and explain that I didn't get charged any extra fee on the way here so why do I have to pay an extra fee now?
She replies, "You must have got lucky in Sydney".
We argue for a while, it goes nowhere, I pay the amount and leave with a bitter taste in my mouth.
Like you said "They grab you by the short and curlies at the very last minute".
