Flight cancelled but Jetstar refuse to refund

My Tokyo to Sydney flight was cancelled and I had to buy another ticket as the offered replacement flight was one week later. I contacted Jetstar upon my return to Sydney to obtain a refund and was refused on the basis that I purchased a cheap ticket.
