Jetstar is going to get someone killed

Flew in to Brisbane on a Thursday with Tiger. Flight went fine. Completed holiday on Sunday afternoon. Return flight to Melbourne was booked with Jetstar and was meant to depart at 7:40pm to arrive back in Melb at 11:40pm. Arrived at airport 2 hours early. Waited. Checked in. Arrived at the gate one hour early. 10 minutes before flight departure went up to staff at gate and was told flight would depart in 10 minutes. This is when the joke of a nightmare began. 10 minutes later all the staff had vanished. Suddenly a voice comes over the intercom and tells us that due to a problem with the flight from mackay that our flight would be delayed until 10:00pm. Turns out the poor people on the Mackay flight had been waiting since at least 3:00pm for the return flight! Absorbed this news and went to sit down. Waited. Waited more. Watched angry Mackay crowd packing on to the plane I paid good money for. I mean I don't expect anything from a cheap carrier aside from it to arrive and leave at the designated time or even within two hours of that time! But +5 hours. Come on! Anyway About 1.5 hours later another voice comes over again telling us that the flight will now be delayed from 10:30 until 11:40! That means we had spent more than four hours in the airport waiting. I have flown around the world and have never had this kind of trouble and this airline can't even manage a straight forward trip between two domestic terminals! Nobody was brave enough to come and talk to the crowd face to face. Eventually we caught a Jetstar person trying to sneak out the gate. They explained that our flight had been delayed because they were on a 'rescue' mission to Mackay. When we did get on to the flight eventually we would be told a similar story. It turned out later that this rescue mission was the fact that a hydraulic system on one of the A320's had failed and that the poor mackay people had been loaded off the other plane stuck on the tarmac since it had a hydraulic problem. In other words Jetstar maintenance is complete arse and they will make up any old crap to keep people happy. So anyway I figure out this is all arse and something weird is going on. So I go out and I take a look and parked over out of the way is this other plane and this one isn't going anywhere and hasn't been since we arrived. At some point somebody turns its lights on and off and flaps the rudder around. And you can clearly see a big hydraulic fluid smear on the ground underneath its front gear. Clearly that is the broken plane and so I make a small prayer that they are not going to shove us on it. 11:40 comes and goes. Eventually at about 12:00 we see the other plane roll back in to the terminal and give a small cheer. Then it parks and nothing happens. Around 12:30 people begin to load off it and wander across the tarmac. For some reason they don't use the loader. Eventually somebody opens the gate and addresses the crowd which is pretty pissed at this point. They tell us the 'rescue' mission went well and we can now get on the plane aside from we will have to wait another 30 minutes while they inspect its front landing gear and change its front tire. By now I think it was 1pm. We lose track of time in this eternal hell. Tthen I wander over to take a look and burst out laughing when I see they have carefully parked a bunch of vehicles in front of the landing gear and nose and put it in such a way that it makes it impossible to see what they are doing. Don't scare the cattle! Two guys are standing in front of this with clip boards looking pissed off having a fight. Then a bunch of 'security' appears at the gate in case anyone thinks of getting angry and begins to talk about the leaking hydraulic problem and what a disaster it all is and how they are glad they 'missed that one'. At last we are loaded on to the plane which by now is actually something I don't want! It is then that we get the same story about the rescue mission from some happy cow in orange. Then we get handed small printed out forms telling us we will get 100 dollars refund on our next flight with Jetstar! Fuck you Jetstar! You ruined my week and totally threw me for exams. Your dangerous and your airline sucks and your entire operation should be grounded before you kill somebody. My advice is don't fly Jetstar ever. I dont want your stupid flight refund. I want my damn money back! Whats more I had 'delay insurance'. But apparently this only counts during an act of war or something! The whole thing is bollocks. Jetstar is bollocks. Just don't use them ... EVER ..

I think to sum it up Damien, the airline is cheap, arrogant, complacent and have attitude. The staff are wannabe Qantas employees (they are really, but just under a cheap and nasty banner called Jetstar). Here's a tip: Send a copy of this note to Alan Joyce - he's the head of Qantas....and former boss of Jetstar. I encourage everyone to stop writing to Jetstar and start writing to Mr Joyce. He knows full well (even though he wont admit it) that Jetstar are pathetic.

I doubt that will make much difference he started the airline! and since he's been at Qantas he's introduced a degree of cheapness and misery to the regular to premium customer band.

You watched all the angry Mackay passengers board the plane you paid good money for? You flew Jetstar, a budget carrier! If you pay peanuts you get monkeys. Don't complain because you get what you pay for mate. I fly this airline regularly and I enjoy them more than Tiger Airways and Virgin Blue. I have never been delayed and have only experienced perfect customer service. Try them again and I'm sure your experience will be quite the contrary.

Macca you have a point but

Macca you have a point but what annoys me about this airline is they don't give a shit about their customers, if I pay $70 for a flights and they take my money in good faith I still expect to be treated like a human not a piece of poo. It's a easy fixed problem change their advertising and tell people after they book their ticket you will get nothing you will not be able to sort out any problems and you will have poor service across the board easy problems fixed. At least that way they will be honest.
