Jetstar Complaints

  • Leonie Phillips

    Submitted by Leonie Phillips

I attempted to make a booking for a flight from Melbourne, Tullamarine on 10 May, 2012 in MY name but using a Jetstar Mastercard in the name of my Mother, and Jetstar's SYSTEM decided that my Mother was the passenger, NOT me, even though I entered MY name, MY address, MY email address, MY mobile telephone number! WTF???

I put in a complaint, received a call from K***, Jetstar Customer (non) Care on Tuesday, 15 July, 2012 wherein he stated he would investigate the complaint and call me back after lunch Tuesday, 15 July, 2012, but DID NOT do so!!

  • ACCC need to investigate Jetstsar

    Submitted by Justin Mace

How is it Jetstar can change my flight time without compensating me, however when I want to change a name on a ticket that I have already booked and paid for I must pay them $250?

Jetstar claim the only way to change a name on the ticket is to cancel it (although they cant refund it) and sell me a new ticket plus all their 'change details' fees. It's a bloody joke!

Who in Jetstar dreams up all this crap, Jetstar specialise in inconveniencing its clients so it can charge more fees.

  • Online Fare not available to call centre agent

    Submitted by Tim Mannah

I'm too fuming to be patient enough to articulate clearly, but after buying a sale fare for $109.00 and accidentally booking for 1 week early, I accepted that I would have to pay a change fair.

But when I call Jetstar up they tell me that the same $109.00 fare is not longer available even though I was looking at it on-line so not only do I have to pay the $75 change fee I need to pay another $35 far difference because she cant find the fair.

The crap bit - I'M STILL LOOKING AT THE CHEAP FAIR ONLINE - AAAAAAAAAAARGGGHH!!!!!

    Why cant she see it???

  • And now for the useless vouchers..................

    Submitted by Jane Koch

After being forced to extend our trip to Singapore by one day due to Jetstar cancellation I was promised a $100 voucher for each passenger. Careful what you wish for! The first voucher arrived within the 5 days mentioned. The second voucher has arrived one month later and only after 9 phone calls to the useless 131 staff. I hope the rudeness I have now become almost accustomed to using does not rub off permanently on my behaviour, however this seems to be the only thing they respond to. Would love to be privy to some of the "recorded converstaions" they must be hilarious.

  • Jetstar Monopoly

    Submitted by Stephen Fitzgerald

Breif histoy: Qantas used to do both the Darwin-Bali run and the Brisbane-Bali run, but after the Bali Bombings, and thing got a bit quiet, they dumped both legs. Fortunatly for Darwinians Garuda stuck with us and continued to provide a service, as did our local airline Air North. When things began to pick-up again in Bali, as did the need for flights, there were a lot of Brisbane travelers who were flying to Darwin, then on to Bali with Garuda, it did not take long for Qantas/Jetstar to cotten on to this.

  • Incorrect costly information. Incompetent customer representatives.

    Submitted by AJ Gillin

Here is a letter to Jetstar I have submitted about a recent flight experience. In the letter I have not mentioned that the young man at check in was more concerned about styling his hair and flicking dandruff off his blazer that to even pretend to be mildly attentive to my partner and I when we checked in

  • The most expensive tickets to Bali ever,

    Submitted by Nancy Rodriguez

I bought tickets online, for me and my daughter to go to Bali for the long weekend on 1/4/12. Unfortunately my daughter couldn't travel that time and I had to call them to change dates and one of the passengers.
I knew I had a non flexible fare, so I was aware I have to pay. Going for economy, I searched on the Internet for dates when tickets price were lowers than what I already had paid.

  • jetStar Wars. The letter I sent Jetstar today....

    Submitted by Mary-Jane Farrell

    Dearest Jetstar

I have no idea why I am even bothering writing this letter. Rumour has it in 2 months I will get an automated response from Jetstar stating I should of called today as per my friends experience, but I'm willing to give a try. Someone once said its good to write your feelings down even if no one reads it. Lessens the anger apparently, and good for your vocabulary,

  • YOUR WEBSITE, CUSTOMER SERVICE & VOUCHERS ARE A JOKE!!!

    Submitted by Tracy Shul

WARNING TO PROSPECTIVE TRAVELERS!! This is a copy of what I have posted on their Facebook wall and sent to their complaints department.

I have been a loyal Jetstar client for many years, but I am getting incredibly frustrated with your website, vouchers and customer service.

I will start with your website:

Firstly, when ever I try to book for some reason or another, I always get some kind of failure, the latest being that it doesn't recognise my email address as valid........... How??? I have booked so many flights with you?

  • Another Jetstar Fiasco

    Submitted by Denis Gallagher

Just got off the phone from Jetstar customer service ( now theres a paradox) with smoke coming out of my ears ! My daughter had rang in tears from Sydney prior to catching JQ3 from Syd to Honolulu as Jetstar had put her in seat 47A, a normal economy seat after I had booked and paid for extra leg room in seat 44k some weeks ago. Absolutely no reason or communication of any sort as to why the change, just "get on board you are in seat 47A".

  • Because pregnant - miss friend's wedding

    Submitted by Tim Wetherall

Yip, just so everyone knows, we turned up at 5.30am this morning for Leah (my wife) to catch her 6.10am flight to Christchurch New Zealand from Auckland. They said she had to have a medical certificate to fly (even though she was cleared to fly by her midwife, and this was not outlined on their site), she is 30 weeks pregnant. They said we had to fax it through which we did - it arrived at 5.50am. The attendant left Leah l at the desk for 20 mins, came back and said that the flight had closed so would move her to the next flight.

  • Waiting on an engineer

    Submitted by Temeaka Meaksi Wyatt

So right now I should have been happily on Brisbane seeing family instead I'm stuck at Proserpine airport with a cafe that is running out of food while we wait for an engineer to fly two hours to check a 'non important flap' instead of sending a new plane they are flying him in when he could very well say the plane can't fly! This means that we will all be stuck another 2 hours while a new plane comes in. We have now been told we have to wait another hour for the engineer to arrive before we can even re board no offer to get us on another plane or anything! Done their dash!

  • To change my booking cost more than the actual flight.

    Submitted by Carlene Spiteri

When I 1st made my booking from Bali to Darwin I was told that to change my booking would cost $40.
So today after trying numerous phone numbers calling from Bali to Australia I finally found a number to get though on +61 3 9347 0091.
So after finally getting through I then proceeded to request a flight change to be told that it would cost me $170 to change a flight that cost me $160..
I tried to explain that I had booked through a travel agent but could not contact them and that I was told it would be $40, JetStar didn't care, they just said, well your only option is to pay $170..

  • Voucher - HAHA forget it

    Submitted by Josefine Ganz Geheim

I was so happy when I was promised a $ 300 voucher. They told I should let some days pass and then get my voucher from the homepage. That's the good story so far. Of course it didn't work out at all and I called the hotline. Several times. The staff is incompetent and unfriendly and, seriously, I just came to Australia two months ago but my English is definitively a lot better. And how often do I need to repeat that I didn't get a voucher number so far? This is simply unbelievable. I'm a psychologist and I'm very patient usually. It did never happen to me that I ended up shouting at my phone.

  • Shafted Or Rerouted?

    Submitted by Jane Koch

Over the last twelve months I have been messed about by Jetstar on three ocassions, the latest is happening now.
Booked and paid for flights in January for Cairns/Singapore/Cairns in May.
Received an email alert from them in March advising of a schedule change. The computer generated acceptance system had issues so rang the help desk which is located in an overseas call centre. Was advised the departure time from CNS was to be an hour earlier, that's ok. Read on, it just gets worse

  • No refund

    Submitted by Lou Francis

I have travelled with Jetstar between Hobart and Melbourne regularly for the last 3 years. Last week I found out my booking was from Melbourne to Hobart instead of the other way around. I am not sure if I did this, very odd. Noticed mistake when I went to book hire car the afternoon before due flight and flight locations did not match. I rang Jetstar ( Manilla) and was told I had to pay $70 to change it. I stayed calm and allowed that. Then she said I had to pay difference in flight costs which were $329 actually more than the flights. Now I was angry.

  • Changed flights, lost baggage

    Submitted by Nick Tipping

We were booked to fly from Denpasar to Melbourne (QF268), then Wellington (QF037), on 20/21 April. On 20 April we arrived at Denpasar airport at about 9pm to check in for our 11:50pm flight. The check-in agent told us that our booking had changed: we were actually booked to fly to Sydney rather than Melbourne, and we were not now booked to fly to Wellington at all. After some discussion, we persuaded the check in agent to add a flight to Wellington, so we end up at home as we had originally booked and paid for.

  • Jetstar package - starter fare bundle

    Submitted by Joan Washington

that stupid jetstar package that you buy so if there is a problem you can change the name is a joke and a way of extracting more money out of its victims. you buy it thinking ok ticket is paid for bum on seat so change name option is great..... well what happens is the prices then if are different somehow you end up paying at least another 400 dollars just to change a name on a ticket..... love the way Jetstar loves to just get more and more money.... really changing a name is that difficult... that it will cost another 4-500 dollars

  • Excess baggage and filthy plane

    Submitted by Pat Kilburn

I book a flight with an agent and was sent from Brisbane to Cairns by Virgin Australia. The flight was great. The seating was great, the flight attendants were great and the plain was spotless. I was returning from Cairns to Brisbane on Jetstar. This was a nightmare. First of all I was expected to purchase my baggage amount ahead of time. How could you possibly know. If you guess 20 kg and you bring 15kg the airline wins because you don't use the amount of luggage. If you guess too little they charge you a ridiculous rate. So the airline wins no matter what you state.

  • Flight change fiasco!

    Submitted by 100002092194150@facebook

Love the way that Jetstar continually change my flight Times with these emails 'Since you made your booking, we have changed our flight schedule. Please be advised that your flight details have changed. We understand it can be frustrating when plans change, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. While we try to avoid any changes to our timetable, in this instance it was unavoidable. Please review your flight details below.' Yada Yada Yada..

  • Children abandoned

    Submitted by Harald Ehrlich

On 2 April I booked a flight for my 2 granddaughters to visit me for the school holidays in Byron Bay.
At the time of booking I rang Jetstar to specifically explain their ages (13 and 9)
and was told they would be ok to travel as long as the older could show her school
pass to prove she attends high school. She could then be the escort for the younger one.
I very carefully explained this , their ages and that they would be travelling without
any other adult. I was assured this would be acceptable. Today, 8 April, when they arrived at

  • How Jetstar just cost me $1800...

    Submitted by Rob Tideman

My wife and I were booked on a flight from Cairns to Singapore on 16th March. About 3 hours prior to departure I was called by Jetstar and advised that the flight was cancelled, no explanation was given as to why. I was offered seats on the same flight the next day or a refund.
My problem was that I was flying to Singapore to compete in an Ironman triathlon. Had I arrived 24 hours later than planned I would not have been able to check in for the race and the trip (including hotels and months and months of training) would have been a total waste of time.
