Having opted to fly Jetstar as they were the only ones that flew direct to Phuket, I now wish I hadn't.
Was told by a friend that it was best to pre-book an entertainment unit as there were never enough to go around after you got on the plane. So okay, called a week prior to pre-book only to find out that all the pre-booked units were sold.
Told to complain to "Customer Care" department, only to get email back that it would take 15 business days to respond. WOW!!
Have since found out that there are only 15 units available to be pre-booked (on a flight with 212 passengers in economy), and possibly only 50-60 extra units on board available. This means that only 35% of passengers have any chance of getting an entertainment unit with 65% of passengers left to sit there for 9 hours twiddling their thumbs. Travelling with 4 kids with nothing to do is a torture now paying customer should have to endure.
When calling the Customer Service centre to try to "escalate" the problem and to point out how ridiculous this situation was told, was put on hold and then subsequently cut off. Now incensced, rang again and told the operator that I was not getting off the line till my problem was resolved. Went round and round in circles, after 45 minutes he told me he would try and find a solution and guess what??....phone cut off again.
That's how Jetstar handles any complaints...they simply don't. They either make you wait 3 weeks for a response hoping that you won't care by then, or easier still, they just hang up on you.
My advice to anyone contemplating travelling with them...DON'T, THEY ARE THE WORST AIRLINE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED OR HAD PROBLEMS WITH.

Now Sandra, I'm usually the first person on this site to agree with the complaints of customers. But in your case, I have to say you knew there'd be no entertainment units onboard. As a responsible mother of 4 children surely you could have provided entertainment as you knew jetstar wouldnt?
Yes, it is a ridiculous situation; so is relying on a budget airline to entertain your kiddies.

Some people think the customer service agents are big teddy bears that people can abuse. They can't do anything about the situation, would you rather they waste your time with you on hold until YOU hang up. Build a bridge and get over it. If you don't like them, dont fly them. Its more room for the rest of us.
