NEVER, NEVER fly Jetstar again... Surfboard nightmare

I will NEVER fly Jetstar again!
We were due to fly to Perth on 27 December 2011. We checked in and were rudely told we couldn't check in our surfboard bag because it was too tall for the cargo carrier. We had checked on the website if we could take the board and everything appeared fine. Only flights passing through SYD, ADL and HKT are restriced by the small cargo cages (1.9m on A320 and A321). Flights on A330 can take cargo upto 2.77m.

Jetstar never informed us that we would be boarding a smaller plane to Perth and so we were left with two options, kindly (not) suggested by the ground staff. 1. Courier our boards to Perth or 2. leave the boards behind and hire more when we got there... try telling this to a boyfriend who has just bought a new board for Christmas. Neither of these two options were possible. Melbourne ground staff then told us to find flights with another airline and get a refund for our tickets from Jetstar. Two months and 3 complaint letters later, it is clear we aren't getting a refund. All the replies we have recieved have been generic and have not addressed our concerns with communication or handling by the customer service people in Melbourne.

Moral of the Story? NEVER fly jetstar again.
