Non-confirmed and unauthorised transaction by JetStar system

I tried to book a flight from Sydney to Melbourne using Qantas web site on 18/01/2011 around 8:30am. I choose a flight that suited my planned departure time and was automatically redirected to JetStar site. After populating necessary online forms, the screen I‘ve got the message that I have to wait until transaction completed. I wait around 20 minutes and did not get any message that transaction completed. So I went back to Qantas site and book Qantas flight.
After a couple of days I found out that JetStar charged me for flight that I never get confirmation for. I call JetStar customer service and spend long time on phone trying to explain to supervisor in Philippines that I want refund because company failed to confirm reservation or give any confirmation that the transaction was successful. He didn’t have authority to give refunds. His name is Jojo Aromin and he told me that person that can do it is Marvin Stan. When I asked how I can contact this person he answered me that he will contact me.
The problem is that Jet Star customer service man said that they sent me the email confirmation. I did not get their “phantom” email and I have check all emails on my Exchange for the date(18/01/2011) and their email never come.
Because it is not question of money but it is more principle, I will go further and find out who is their Internet provider and find out did they ever sent the email confirmation. As I was told from JetStar CS officer their Internet booking system does not give any indication if email they send fail to be delivered. But their system does not fail to perform charges. They do not care to advice customer or resend email in the case that email with booking notification fail.
I spoke to my bank representative and after explanation what happened the bank CS officer told me that they will investigate the transaction as an unauthorised usage of my CC numbers (non confirmed financial transaction) and they will advice me with result of investigation.
As a last resort I will undertake legal proceeding against JetStar and sue them for all damages and lost time as a result of their system failure. The ticket price is around $120 AUS but lost time and nerves are more expensive.
JetStar bad reputation is partly Qantas responsibility because they are same company under different names, as I have been told. I always travelled with Qantas, but from now “NEVER AGAIN”.

This happens way too much.

This happens way too much. It's so obviously a scam. You have the right idea, never fly with them again. Don't even give them the satisfaction of meeting your gaze at the airport check-in area. They are scum and they will cheat you at every turn. Dont fly jetstar.

I hope you get your refund. I

I hope you get your refund. I would not recommend legal action as it will suck up so much of your personal energy and cost a lot of money. I would not have the strength for it.

Write a letter and see how you go. Best of luck.

Michael - the supervisor you

Michael - the supervisor you spoke to should have arranged a call back for you from the customer relations department. Regardless of whether the booking was successful or not, the customer relations team will be able to ask you for documentation showing you have booked a flight to/from the same destination on the same day and will consider it as a duplicate booking and should refund it on those grounds.
I don't believe you when you say you will NEVER fly Qantas (or Jetstar) again. The fact is this can happen with any carrier. Believe it or not, Virgin Blue have their own system issues at times. Like I keep saying, the next time theres a cheap sale whats the bet you will be back on the website.

Anonymous, as I have said

Anonymous, as I have said before....why would you pay someone to spit in your face?
And don't start flinging sh*t at Virgin Blue, they rock. Their staff are more professional, friendlier and best of all, better looking. Love Virgin Blue. While I am at it, V Australia is also excellent.

I think you are stupid to be

I think you are stupid to be honest.

You didn't think to ring Jetstar first to check if the booking had been completed (They can find a flight with just you name or email address, even if you don't have the confirmation number) before going onto qantas.com and booking another flight...

Stupid, you don't deserve a refund at all

someone please tell me how I

someone please tell me how I can check my fly confirmation with jetstar..... I was also on-hold for a long time and received no response or whatsoever at all. I want to be able to fly out on 4/6/2011..... PLEASE HELP HERE!!!!
