FOR THOSE ABOUT TO FLY, WE DELAY YOU

Last time I will ever fly jetstar.

Been a Qantas frequent flyer for 20 years and have always tried to support our national airline and its "RUBBISH" affiliate in JetStar.

I Was in Melbourne returning to Gold Coast on Thursday afternoon - plenty of time to spare, to get up to Brisbane for a ACDC concert. Flight due to depart 3.55pm and land at 5pm. Flight departed at 5.50 for a supposed "technical glitch" and we landed at 6.50pm.
To add salt to the wound, we had to sit on the runway for 25 minutes because the bay that was allocated at Gold Coast was full. There were only 3 other planes at the airport at the time and I know that GC has more than 6 gates. Surely Jetstar could have confirmed, prior to landing with a plane full of delayed passengers, a birth for the plane. But no, true to there style they kept us waiting for another 25 minutes.

If everyones time on the plane is worth average $50 per hour. With 250 people on board, the cost in lost time is $12,500 per hour. The cost for this delayed flight of 2.5hours would be close to $30,000. Maybe one day a group might get together and sue them for lost time and productivity.... just a thought!

Back to my story. My kids of 16 and 14 were waiting at home to go to the concert, gutted we were not going to get there. I have been an ACDC fan for 30 years. So looking forward to seeing them. Furious that this was being taken away from me and my kids due to ineptitude by JetStar

Cut a long story short, finally got to Brisbane at 9.45 - in time to see encore performance - last 2 songs of the night. FInal song of the night was - "FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK, WE SALUTE YOU" - awesome being there (would have been awesome to see the whole show that cost me $480 for tickets).

I know there is no chance of even getting a thank you from JetStar and zero chance of getting some form of compensation - maybe 3 tickets to Saturdays concert to Brisbane for my devastated kids. Never from JetStar.

So as a tribute to this most terrible airline, who I will never fly with again, I alter the ACDC song title to:

"FOR THOSE ABOUT TO FLY, WE DELAY YOU" should be your new slogan. Because it is so apt.

what sort of plane has 250 on

what sort of plane has 250 on board? What sort of dickhead doesn't allocate some time for delays. Going by your comments it would have been very tight on time even if Jetstar had run on time.

Tony James you dont fly very

Tony James you dont fly very often do you. My QF flight this Sunday seats 36 in business and 240 in economy. Pretty normal flight. Look up a few airline websites and educate yourself.

Fan of JetStar Tony???? I

Fan of JetStar Tony???? I would have thought 3 hours sufficient time to get to concert - Gold Coast to Brisbane. Difficult when you delayed by 2.5 hours.
42 rows of seats at 6 seats per row - do the maths

Well actually I do fly often,

Well actually I do fly often, just not domestically in Australia, I fly international between Christchurch & Melbourne about once every 3 months. When Jetstar started (who I am not a fan or fly anymore) QF gave Jetstar the route. While Jetstar has expanded other full service airlines moved in (e.g.. China Airlines) to fill the gap left by QF, so now its a more crowded market even if QF re entered the market. Also over recent years as QF has slide behind other players They have downgraded there daily Christchurch / Sydney service from a (originally it was a 747) 767 (which could take standard airline freight containers) to a much smaller 737. It won't take much of a push by other players to knock Qantas two remaining services Sydney (daily) & Brisbane (not daily) out of the market completely. And still no one has told me the type of Aircraft QF uses domestically which takes around 250 passengers. Anyway, Do Jetstar use these 250 passenger planes domestically as they don't use them international to here

True, GC Airport has multiple

True, GC Airport (OOL?) has multiple gates (Air bridges) but Jetstar is too cheap to pay extra to use them.
