Using visa debit card with a nasty FEE price + where is intertainment on board? bored

Thursday i booked a airline ticket for 4 adults in the family for the first time with jetstar for a weekend stay in melbourne comming from brisbane.

Note that it was the only some what cheaper current price to travel on a specific date we wish to travel in june 2011. After Qantas jumped the price to 211dollars at the moment while jetstar is 154dollars to get to melbourne

Anyhow we went thru proccese to the page press next and then see that they where charging me 54.00 dollars FEE just to use my damn debit visa card.

54.00 dollars fee to book tickets with a visa card. INCLUDING GST added ontop of that. Shocking.

Know realise that this plane does not have tv to keep us all happy.. There is no free food and all they want is money or you dont get anything.

I am very skeptical about jetstar.. Oh though i havnt fly with jetstar domestic yet.. Will see how good or bad they are on my trip to melbourne with the family.

I would hate to argue with jetstar is they end up putting each of us separated in the plane. as we plan to seat on the same row together.

I hear theres alot of issues and complaints and negative feedback about JETSTAR since i recall for the past 3 years..

So im worried what to expect.. i just hope it all goes well otherwise ill be thumping on these emplyees feets hard until they realise jetstar has major issues by all means........

Be carefull with the FEE they charge the price of a almost a ticket price for a fee.

REM-E

Remmy you obviously never

Remmy you obviously never travel as EVERY AIRLINE CHARGES CREDIT CARD FEES!!!!!!!!!!! For fucks sake... When you select Visa/Mastercard etc etc right next to it it says " Booking and service fee: $28.00" or whatever the amount is. How exactly is that telling you about the fee AFTER you've paid??? Sure I'll admit the fees are steep but every airline has them. Tiger call it a "convenience" fee and it is something like $1 more per person than Jetstar.

Maria, Qantas is Australia's only full service domestic airline. If you fly with them anytime other than breakfast lunch or dinner, all you get (if you're lucky) is a drink, an apple, and maybe some cheese or biscuits. EVERY other carrier charges for food on board. Surely you knew this before you chose Jetstar. And FYI, the tv units are available on most Brisbane Melbourne flights I have flown with them.

Honestly complaints like this are just laughable. Find something better to do, seriously... If you want to bitch about credit card fees, paying for food on board, and lack of entertainment the answer is simple: Fly a more expensive airline, not a budget carrier!!!!

@ Anonymous - please STOP

@ Anonymous - please STOP and THINK before you make such comments. Just because EVERY or ANY airline does this- doesn't make it FAIR and REASONABLE. Recently MANY Australian Banks rescinded fees and charges, following a class action on a major bank on the basis that banks should only charge a fee commensurate with the actual costs of the service.

So at what point were these Bank fees reasonable? At no point. The problem in Australia is that with only four major banks, banks had free reign to charge whatever fees they liked. Banks need legislation in order remain fair to consumers, and airlines also. The banks overstepped the mark and some would argue airlines do also in this regard. At least most bank employees seemed to have the integrity to admit that the banks were gouging.. it seems that Jetstar employees believe their own publicity.

So Jetstar charges a fee. Just because Jetstar management think it's fair to charge such fees doesn't mean that customers have to. What is it about free speech that irritates you so?

In Vietnam Jetstar charges a fee WHEN YOU PAY CASH!! How is that justifiable?? Why does the consumer have to suck this up? Visa charges around 2.5% commission on transactions- Jetstar should only be allowed to charge this and no more in my opinion.

Maria is entitled to share her opinion without your abuse.

yeah, it aint reasonible. but

yeah, it aint reasonible. but as usual anonymous sticks up 4 jetstar. he is an jetstar employee dats y he says all dis shit. even if its 1 buck extra its still a cheat, admit dat man! i jus want u 2 admit it and stop stickin up 4 dis shit airline, do me a favour man. just coz some other airline dus it dont make it lejitimite for jetstar 2 do it!
Rem-za-rekshon.

Phil, I have admitted I think

Phil, I have admitted I think the fees are steep. What irritates me is that you admit every airline does this, yet you take the time to bitch about only Jetstar in relation to it. Why don't you post this complaint on an I hate budget airlines type website? I actually have no idea what the service fee is the banks charge Jetstar. I would assume it is quite a bit lower than the fee Jetstar (and Tiger, Virgin, Qantas etc etc etc) charge. My point is that the credit card fee/service fee/convenience fee is confirmed before you press confirm. If you don't want to pay it, you don't have to. Choose Poli, Direct Deposit, go to a travel agent and pay cash.

If you read carefully I was not intending any abuse toward Maria. It was towards Remmy (who I will be ignoring from now on). Maria however should understand what she's purchasing (in regards to entertainment, food on board etc) before confirming her booking and then complaining about it.

Phil I am not at all against what you say, but I think you should address it to all airlines. The basic rule is the cheaper the airline, the more they charge in fees.

Phil, the nature of this post

Phil, the nature of this post is critising ONLY Jetstar for such an industry standard that extends into any retail or trading store in the world. Anonymous wasn't justifying such fees however just highlighting the fact it is common. I have no idea what it is like in Vietnam but at a clothes store in Australia there is usually a 2 % credit card surcharge. This woman paid for 4 adult tickets at $154 each equating to $616. At a 2% surcharge this is 12.32 dollars. Jetstar charge 23 dollars for their surcharge. When you consider how cheap most of their fares are(BNE-MEL is usually 79 dollars) an extra $10 doesnt make a whole deal of difference. Sorry if I stumped you with the maths but some people who travel with Jetstar are actually intelligent.

@ Anonymous - so once you

@ Anonymous - so once you accept the fees and terms and conditions, the customer waives the ability to be angry or challenge the fairness of the fee? Is that your argument? By clicking 'accept' - you enter some confidentiality agreement or something?

@ Anonymous & Macca- Personally the reason I watch and contribute to THIS website is because I've written complaints to Jetstar about booking and payment problems and have NEVER had the problem resolved. In fact here's the complaint reference number - Q8UN5T Go ahead.. if you know someone at Jetstar - have them do something about it. I'm still waiting.

Some time back - I had a problem with an Air Asia booking. I contacted them and the problem was resolved.

Some time back I had a problem with a Jetstar booking, I attended two Jetstar booking desks, wrote two letters and the issue was never resolved. In fact the original email I received advised that it would be a minimum of 15+ working days BEFORE I received a response, and in fact it was about 60 working days before I ACTUALLY received ANY response. She said she'd have someone call back with the solution - that was 6 months ago. What do you do when a company doesn't respond to such issues? You post on a website such as this-.

If Jetstar did a fair job at dealing with issues- there'd be no reason for this website.

And honestly Macca - I'm sick of your condescending snipes regarding customers or my ability with mathematics and such like- it really does your arguments no favours.. My post referred to banks & airlines charging fees that weren't commensurate with the actual costs.. Maria complained that the credit card fee was $54 - obviously much more than 2% or the actual cost of the credit card commission, unless the tickets were something like $2700 for 4 ppl Brisbane - Melbourne. An extra $10 on a $79 ticket is about 12.5% not anything like the 2% that is your so called industry standard for retail.

You say the fares are cheap at $79 - it's practically impossible to actually pay that price. The tickets are probably still cheap at $89.. so why can't Jetstar just do the honest thing and charge the advertised price?

macca is just loves jetstar

macca is just loves jetstar so much and comes on here and tries to defend dem and stick up for dem, but he nos deep down dat they suck. he just dont admitt it. all jetstar employees like macca and anonymous r coruptt so they jus want yor cash n nothin else! theeves and scummy oporaters.

Seriously morons, do a bit

Seriously morons, do a bit research before you fly! Where have you had your head stuck if you did not know that you had to pay for your food and inflight entertainment? That's what gets me, lazy people who don't look into the details but then whinge about them ad nauseam

Thanks for your comment Daz..

Thanks for your comment Daz.. So where can you do research in this case to discover ahead of time that Jetstar will charge around 12% for paying by credit card? Seems like you only find this out at the 11th hour after booking and entering all the details- making seem more like trickery than honest business. Once again I make the point - in a schoolyard you can win an argument by calling someone a Moron.. but in the adult world arguments are won by providing facts.. so Daz... where is the information about the nasty (credit card payment) fee?
BTW - only a Jetstar employee would make a comment such as yours.. and your beligerant attitude and comments are one of the many reasons we don't fly Jetstar.

Phil, I fly Jetstar regularly

Phil, I fly Jetstar regularly and know for a fact that 54 dollars is not the applicable credit card fee. It is in fact 23 dollars. Now if you look at my maths(I know your finding it complicated but it's only Yr 8 maths) you will see it is not a 12% surcharge. You and Remmy demonstrate the scum that choose to fly Jetstar.

Hi Macca.. Maria gave the

Hi Macca..
Maria gave the price of the ticket. she also quoted the fee she was charged.. maybe she was mistaken but I doubt it.

So Jetstar customers are scum are they? Is this your own idea or is it part of the Jetstar staff training? You mentioned you fly regularly with Jetstar.. so you are scum also?
