Wellington to Christchurch via Auckland with an overnight stay in Auckland

I was planning to pick my son up from Christchurch airport at 5.30 pm on Sunday 13th March 2011. I received a text from him saying that his flight is canceled. I ring him back and find out that the flight was canceled because the pilot was tired. However Jetstar was going to be flying them to Auckland to connect with flight JQ259 that would land him in Christchurch at 11.30pm on Sunday. I told him I would come out to the airport to pick him up. At 10:10 p.m. my cell phone rings, it is my son. "dad you won't believe what these pricks have done." he says. "they have booked us on the flight from JQ259 on Monday night"

It appears Jetstar will be putting them in to a hotel tonight and fly him home tomorrow night. I can't confirm the time or where he may end up tonight because my son's cell phone was going flat as he called me.

What a complete bunch of morons Jetstar management must be. My son should not be stuck in Auckland. He was flying Wellington to Christchurch and now the airline has him sleeping in Auckland with the possibility of getting home 30 hours later than the time he contracted them to get him home. On top of this he will loose a days pay and he will not be back in town assisting with the rebuild of an Earthquake ravaged city. How many other Christchurch citizens have suffered from this pitiful treatment by Jetstar?

We also had family member on

We also had family member on this non-flight and luckily we would not accept Jetstar offers to get him into Chc via Akl by 9PM TUES (52 hours late) and NOR would we accept an Air NZ staff member comment they "had 500 people waiting on standby" (designed to send people away or pure stupidity //)
We called Air NZ 0800 737000 and obtained a $50 stadby fare for which we had to check-in by 5pm.He was home in Chc by 6.50PM
Now for the fight for Jetstar refunds huh ?
Question everything .. but particularly question your use of Jetstar in future .. we do !
