Will I ever get my refund

Due to the situation in Japan (earthquake) I had to cancel my flight with Jetstar. After waiting on the phone for 30minutes (which seems to be the normal waiting time) jetstar did process my refund. However, after nearly a month and calling back three more times, they still haven't refunded me. On the last conversation they promised me a certain date for my refund which I never got. I was so upset and angry and called just this morning to only find the bitter truth that I will have to wait some more to get my refund back. other travelling agents has already refunded me for hotel booking. I don't know why Jetstar is taking so long. Bad service and no credibility! will I ever get my refund back????

If its taken longer than 15 working days then your entitled to request a $50 voucher, as the customer charter states.

You might want to consider

You might want to consider that there are probably a much higher number of refund requests going through since Christchurch/Japan. Some airlines can take 6 weeks or more to refund. Jetstar states 15 working days but I suspect they are probably struggling to meet this at the moment.

1 year and something??????? that is ridiculous!!!!!
Well I called y'day and learned that my refund was "rejected" by the financial team. I was furious and said that was unacceptable I want my refund back just like how they said I would in the first place. So the rep spoke with the manager and they finally "decided" that I would get my refund back!! so I need to now start waiting all over again it will take 7 - 15 business days.!! all over again!!!!!!!!

@Susan, your situation is same to me as well. No call back to inform the rejection and it is me to suppose to call back to find it out. After my long complaint, she went to talk to her manager and came back with refund approval again at good will (since it is outside the 11/4 window which will only offer voucher; but I requested before the 1/4/2011 annoucement). The operator this time asked me to trust her that this should be final and the refund will not decline again, as the manager approved it. This is the same as what happened 15 working days ago when I first called. I only trust her if I see my money back to my CC. Another 15 working days is what they asked me to wait again and be patient. WTF. I would never accept a voucher under this circumstance anf fly with JS again. What the hassle.

I'm also still waiting for a refund that was promised on Mar 25. 15 days has come and gone and I still am waiting. Many phone calls later I am still being told "be patient". We need a transport ombudsman ASAP. I just cannot believe this from an Australian company.

After many more phone calles and more wait, I finally got my refund back!. I recommend you to keep calling them until they are sick of you and give you refund. Make sure they put you on a "express refund queue"

I totally sympathise

I totally sympathise here...my partner and I were due to travel to Japan next month but after the Japanese Government requested no unnecessary travel we made the decision to re - book and travel elsewhere in Asia. Our request for a refund was placed through to Jetstar on the 28th of March by our travel agent and Jetstar undertook to call me within 48 hours to discuss our hotel reservation. When no call was received within the allotted time I took it upon myself to start calling...every day. It was frustrating but I finally managed to get our flight component refunded 10 days after the request was put in. However, it's now April 26th and I've still not seen hide nor hair of my accommodation refund. After speaking to Jetstar on the 15th of this month I found out that they haven't even cancelled it yet...Yes, you heard me right. They cancelled my flights but not the accommodation! Who figured that out? I'm now stuck in the situation where I have a hotel reservation on foot in a country I have no flights to...on a day I will be in another country...which they have suggested will most likely be forfeit if I don't check in...While I don't blame Jetstar for the disaster in Japan they have to realise people are hurting enough financially as it is...we alone have absorbed more than $2,500.00 in additional travel costs and are relying on that refund to come through so we can eat overseas, our spending money having been absorbed through increased travel costs. A little compassion and also sensibility in these situations would go so far...

Seriously, I am kicking at myself for flying with Jetstar. Their customer service was horrible to say the least, they are rude and unhelpful. I originally wanted to cancel my flight due to health recent and news about death on their airplane. Yet all I got was we don't offer refund and unless for compassionate policy in which they won't even tell me what that was about and furthermore it was not outline on the JS website. I am wondering whether anyone would like to join in for a class action. It is time to hit the Consumer/Commercial Law part of my degree. Sick and tired of being mistreated by these giant corporation.

I am also waiting for a refund that was approved, apparently.. their website mess up, I have called twice a week for the last 11 weeks and keep getting the run around, everytime I call its a different exscuse and then they say the same, it will be 5-10 working days just for someone to call me.. It makes me so angry. I cant afford the $650 that I was charged twice. They make me soooo angry and I have wasted hours of time that I dont have for their mistake, ANGRY.. Surely we can take this further.
