Will never fly Jetstar again!

Jetstar caused a nightmare weekend in Saigon.

Booked with 3 year old son on flight Hanoi to Saigon on Friday afternoon at 3.30pm. Receive sms at 12pm that flight will only leave at 8.30pm due to "technical problems".....right?? Arrive with a very tired child late at night in Saigon and miss the dinner we were going to.

Heading back to Hanoi on Sunday on flight at 3pm. Guess what..receive and sms at 8am saying flight now leaving at 8pm in evening. Again with the excuse of "technical problems""....3-year old son is has now become sick so need to pay for half-day to stay at hotel until 6pm. Arrive at airport i time for flight..more delays...Midnight by the time we get back to Hanoi...

Nightmare trip. Clearly not about technical problems. Jetstar are cancelling the flights that do not have enough passengers..Worst customer service ever. Never again!

Sooooooo...how do you know

Sooooooo...how do you know that the flight was canceled due to lack of passengers and not because of a technical issue?

You will be pleased to know

You will be pleased to know that Jetstar Asia consider there are at least another 200 port opportunities for them in Asia and they plan to expand much over the next few years. They believe they are the only airlines in Asia owned by a major carrier who can succeed at being a discount airline. if so you can look forward to more Jetstar agony in your life. The article disclosing this was included in the Australian Financial Review of Monday 17th January and its a record of interview of the CEO. Sadly when one reads these pages one realizes that service in Asia in any area which has always been excellent is now being destroyed be these cheap operators of several arilines. Why does contempt for customers seem to be mandatory in this business? One airlines i personally have not heard complaints against is Air asia also a discount operator. I note Jetstar is in talks with Japan airlines I find that hard to believe given that Japan airlines has always had impeccable service, How could two such bodies so far apart get on?

Airlines can't cancel flights

Airlines can't cancel flights at the last minute due to lack of passengers because it is illegal. So i hardly think a big company like Jetstar would make a silly move like that. If you think it's really true, perhaps you should take them to court.

Sorry Alice - Jetstar seems

Sorry Alice - Jetstar seems to do anything they like in Vietnam. Take them to court in Vietnam?? Better chance of flying a pig than taking them to court in Vietnam. I am an Australian living in Vietnam- Back in the stupid days when I used to fly with Jetstar- I'd always take the morning flight- just in case they cancelled the midday flight (which they frequently seemed to do) causing me to miss my afternoon/evening international connection. In Vietnam they cancel and delay flights all the time. After a few times I came to my senses and worked out that booking further in advance, and for $20 or $30 more, I could fly Vietnam Airlines and not spend half a day wasting my time at the airport.

Phil, i would really like you

Phil,

i would really like you to make an official complaint to Jetstar about all your horrible experiences and all your arguments. I am really curious at how they would handle it. Send you a copy paste template or actually take it seriously. I always been a fan of Jetstar but since frequenting this website im sure this complaints arent coming out of thin air. But i really would like to see what they say. Give it a shot, and let us know the response.

Dear Alice - Jetstar in

Dear Alice - Jetstar in Vietnam were always low quality, but with short flights and the ease of booking on the website I used to purchase many many tickets with them. I used to put up with the delays and cancellations until this final event which I will describe later.
I wrote a letter to the CEO of Jetstar Bruce Buchanan on May 24. On June 3, I received an email with a case number advising that I would be contacted in NO LESS than 15 business days (no less than 3 weeks). After hearing nothing by July 10, I wrote to the CEO of Jetstar a second time, and attached my original documentation.
Eventually on July 27 I received a call from a Jetstar staff member, I complained about the treatment by the Jetstar counter staff, and explained how the Jetstar website had a fault- making it difficult for me to pay for my tickets. She listened to every detail and said she would get back to me with information from marketing regarding the website flaw. That was the last I heard of anything.
Apart from this issue- I’d decided I’d spent too many hours sitting in airports waiting for Jetstar, or arriving on an earlier flight so as not to miss any international connections, and / or buying expensive last minute tickets with Vietnam Airlines when Jetstar was delayed or cancelled- so I stopped flying Jetstar and started monitoring this website.
I’ve come to the conclusion that writing to Jetstar management will get you nothing, and that Jetstar operates exactly the way that the management wants it to. I think doing business the Jetstar way makes money- that’s why things are the way they are.
So the original website flaw and complaint goes like this:
I booked tickets with Jetstar on-line and elected to pay at the Vietnam Post Office, and unfortunately I elected to show the prices in USD$ rather than Vietnam Dong (the website in Vietnam offers both options)
May 19 I attended the post office and was told that as the printed voucher from Jetstar quoted US Dollars they were unable to accept payment. None of the Post Office staff knew how much VND to charge or how to contact Jetstar. We were flying with Jetstar on a separate booking the following day so I thought I’d sort things out then.
May 20 I attended the Jetstar counter at Danang Airport handed over the printed voucher to be told there would be an additional $24 fee. I explained that I wouldn’t pay any additional fee, and that Jetstar’s system didn’t work and they should contact management. They refused, ignored me and began to serve other customers. I objected until eventually the Jetstar staff member Ms Tran Thi Phuong said “stay here all day and nothing will happen, pay more money and something will happen”. As we were going to Saigon that afternoon we decided to take things up with Jetstar in Saigon Airport.
A few hours later I attended the Jetstar desk in Saigon to be advised that the booking had expired. I explained what had happened and that person reinstated the booking and advised that I could pay the next day at any TECHCOM bank. It seemed ridiculous that I have to leave a Jetstar counter to go and find some bank to pay for the booking but I agreed.
May 21 I attend the bank branch at 148 Nguyen Cong Tru to be told that they also cannot accept US Dollars as payment. They suggested we go to the larger branch at Pasteur St.
May 21 I attended what was to be the fifth attempt to pay the Jetstar voucher at the Techcom Bank branch at 24 Pasteur St, Saigon. They also advised that they were unable to accept US Dollars (as quoted on the Jetstar voucher) and they had no phone numbers for Jetstar to obtain any instructions. Eventually I located a phone number for Jetstar and asked them to call. We then paid for the voucher in VND.
Jetstar’s procedure for quoting USD$ on the website and the option to pay at Vietnam Post office & Techcom Branches is flawed and simply does not work- and has obviously never been tested during the design phase.
Jetstar wanted to charge US$24 fee for paying cash! The average weekly salary in Vietnam is approximately US$24.
Had I received some fair treatment by Jetstar – I would have continued using them. But instead having gone through all this – and seeing their inability to deal with a legitimate customer complaint- I do my best to have everyone I know avoid them.

If it is because of Techical

If it is because of Techical Issues, Jetstar have technical issues every day. They charge a premium for 8pm flights, for instance, but everyone on these flights always seems to get bumped back to the much cheaper 11pm flight. I can only come to the conclusion that Jetstar is advertising premium flights that they never have the intention of flying....
