Jetstar will not help

Ok well here it is. We arrived at Newcastle Airport 2 hours before we were due to fly out to Brisbane to get on our cruise, we boarded the plane and sat. After about 40 mins they took us off the plane because the parking brake wasn’t working. The flight was rebooked for 11am, which also didn’t happen; they said it would be 2pm when the plane might be fixed. We tried every other airline, but couldn’t get on and Jetstar didn’t make us a priority because we weren’t going from flight to flight so we had to book our own and they were all full. In the end Jetstar will refund us the flights - Big Deal and we missed the cruise, which the travel insurance will not cover because it was a mechanical breakdown on the airlines part, so I’m $5500 out of pocket and jetstar will refund the $800 flight but it will take 3 weeks. So we can fly and meet the cruise in Noumea but that will cost us another $3000 and that would be Monday. So there it is, happy holidays, one that we booked and saved for since October 2011 and now we are $5500 down and no holiday...............The moral of the story is do not fly with these cheap airlines and check the disclosure statements in travel insurance policies. I have submitted a complaint and requested a refund for my cruise but it will remain to be seen if this happens. Radio stations are looking really good and newspapers at this moment, as I am a casual employee I took this time off to be cruising with my family but now I have to return to work tomorrow with no holiday and a massive credit card debit. Jetstar you need to step up!!!!!!!!
