What service?

I booked a flight with Jetstar from Sydney on Boxing Day jq513 and was escorting my 90 year old frail mother home after Christmas. As well as try to manage her and her walking stick,I was also carrying both our carry on's and our two hand bags. There was no call for passengers requiring special assistance, and of course our seats required entry via tarmac. When I reached the counter I informed the attendant that there was no way my mother could negotiate stairs and we need access via the bridge. The attendant just glared at me and instead said "you have to carry your own bags"
I tried to explain to this vacant 20 something moron, that my mother is incapable of walking , holding a bag and remaining upright, however, she would not listen and insisted my mother take a bag. I gave her the lightest and then we walked a few steps forward before I could take the bag again. I could not believe the stupidity of the situation. We then entered via the bridge and of course because our seats were so far back caused a fuss and difficulty for other passengers trying to board.
Wouldn't it be easier if they actually did their job and provided some service? Oh well two more customers lost. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for the last time.
