80 Year Old Grandmother FELL off stairs onto Tarmac because Jetstar REFUSED assistance.

My mother took my 80 year old grandmother to the airport this morning; they asked at the counter for assistance; for someone to help her with her bags up the stairs. She was refused. A young flamboyant man denied her, and said they were "too busy" even though a young lady stood behind him. My mother watched in complete horror, as from a few meters up the stairs, My grandma stumbles and falls onto the tarmac.
We don't know if she's injured yet, as other passengers picked up her bag and helped her onto the plane.

DISGUSTING.

That's horrible and I hope

That's horrible and I hope she is ok, BUT I'm betting you didn't pre-book the assistance onto the plane? If you did then you have a case. If you didn't then it's your own fault. Jetstars website asks if assistance is required, and you can also call up to advise them.

hmmmm johnnie do you work for

hmmmm johnnie do you work for jetstar???

No Leanne but I can read, and

No Leanne but I can read, and I do know that airlines require such things to be pre-booked as some airlines have limits on how many people per flight that can provide assistance for. Great to see that narrow mind of yours at work though.

You need to pre-book the

You need to pre-book the assistence of a staff member to help a weak, elderly passenger?!
I bet it's not free, either...
Sickening.

Yes, most airlines require

Yes, most airlines require passengers requiring assistance to notify the airline when booking. If you bothered to take the time to read http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/planning-and-booking/at-the-airport/specifi... you might have realised this before posting your ignorant comment. And yes its free.

Absolutely NO airlines

Absolutely NO airlines require a "booking" for this service.
As if anything on the official Jet Star website is trustworthy. The staff themselves dont follow the rules, and when questioned about them they act out ignorance.
The website actually says it's "Australia's best low cost airline."

I will never fly JetStar

I will never fly JetStar again but on this complaint I have three comments.
1. I don't think I'd let my 80 year old grandmother fly alone - just my opinion okay.
2. When you book any airline you tick a box to agree to the conditions etc. Part of that is about requiring assistance which you CAN request when booking.
3. Even I've struggled with stairs onto smaller planes - I'm 50's, fit, fitness instructor. Narrow steep stairs and a trundle bag isn't easy. It's sad that they didn't help her. On Air New Zealand Flights they have someone at top and bottom of stairs to assist. I'm a bit surprised there was noone there but hey, you chose that she could fly unaided when you booked.
