CANCELLED FLIGHT AND NO ONE HAD ANY IDEA WHAT TO DO!!

Travelling on Flight JQ458 Sydney-Ballina Byron. I really needed to get up to there because if I didn't get up there in time, my grandparents who were picking me up would not be able to get home due to flooding on the NSW northern rivers.

We board the plane at 2:30pm for 2:55pm departure, which is all good. The door is finally shut at 3:00pm (5 minutes late), and the aircraft doesn't move, and it was extremely hot on board. At 3:15pm (still at the gate), the captain states that we haven't pushed back due to an engineering problem, but says we should be heading off soon.

5 minutes later, the captain comes on again and says in stumbling and broken sentences that there is a problem with airflow into the engines, resulting in no air conditioning in the cabins, and says everyone is to get off the plane so that they can try and get a replacement. people are angry!!

When we exit the plane, waiting again at the gate, there are stacks of people due to another jetstar flight supposedly leaving after ours bound for Cairns. We then get the call that the flight has been cancelled, then all hell breaks loose, and passengers are angry!! I get a number to call the customer service line, but I was told a refund would not be issued due to being on a jetsaver light fare.

yet to ring customer service, but will be blasting them, KRAP AIRLINE!!!!!

Is the airline cancels a flight and does not offer you an alternative they are legally bound to refund your fair. Look at their web page today and see what concessions they are offering flood altered patrons in Qld. This may give you some ammunition for your case but I would call your state based consumer body right now.
Also get you facts down straight and without emotion and call a few talk back programs.
