Cancelled Flight, Half a refund. Poor excuse for an airline.

Was flying with Jet star last year on my last holiday over to QLD/NSW to visit friends and relatives. I was meant to be flying to the Brisbane and staying there for a week, flying to Sydney (from Brisbane) for 3 days then back to Brisbane for another 2 days before flying back to Perth.

Well... the start of my holidays started okay, had no problems from Perth to Brisbane.

The day I was meant to be flying to Sydney, my friend from Sydney calls me telling me how dissapointed she was that she wasn't going to be seeing me. I had no idea what she was going on about until she told me that a volcano eruption in chile had grounded all jetstar/Qantas planes. Well, an hour before i had to leave I did not hear from jetstar so I called them.

Put on hold for at least an hour before i get in contact with someone, who tells me that yes the flight is cancelled due to volcano eruption (Fair enough, natural disaster. Nothing anyone can do about it.
He offers me a full refund or the earliest available flight (At that point, neither of us knew when that would be), I told him I would take the refund as I was going to be flying back to Perth in a few days time anyway.

1 month later.. nothing...

2 months later.. nothing..

3rd month, I decide to ring and see where my money is.. another hour of waiting before I get a hold of someone, explained what had happened and that my refund hasn't come through yet. The girl I talked with said it hadnt been processed properly and would process it now, give it 2 - 4 weeks. Okay.

1 month later, half of what I had paid for the return tickets was deposited into my account ($90 of $180). Waited a few days thinking maybe they did 2 individual refunds... nothing.
So I rang again. Well. What a waste of time. After much arguing with the clueless people on the other side of the phone, I get informed that "We have given you a full refund for the flight from Brisbane to Sydney, but as the flight from Sydney to Brisbane was not cancelled and you did not give us 24 hours notice of cancellation, we can not give you a refund for that ticket".

Logic says if all flights to Sydney are cancelled (keeping in mind virgin, tiger, Qantas and jetstar all cancelled there flights), how do you expect someone to catch a returning flight from Sydney?
It was only $90 but just the way it was handled was very poor. I have flown many times throughout Australia and even internationally through Virgin and Air Asia and have not flown Jetstar since, I refuse to give them anything now and recommend to all my family to spend the extra $50 for better airlines.
