Changing a name on the ticket

To all potential customers who are not 100% sure if they or somebody else will use the flight be careful. My daughter who is a uni student bought $89 tickets for herself and a friend to go to Sydney as a special treat to see the Harry Potter expo. She bought the tickets in advance to save money. Unfortunately her friend was unable to go due to new job commitments and so myself, her Mum decided to go with her.
Change to destination ticket $50 admin
Change to home ticket $50 admin
Difference between old ticket price and new down and back $385, but it still worked out $18 more to buy a new ticket on the dates needed so we made the change.
How ridiculous after already purchasing the ticket, it was already sold, and all for a name change!!!
What bad customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can understand an admin charge (maybe), but to charge for the difference between the original ticket and the price now, how pathetic!!!!

What kind of idiot are you?

What kind of idiot are you? Seriously... its in black and white on their website that changes to names incur a fare difference. Don't bloody book $89 fares and expect the world to bow at your feet when you want to change something. No other airline in Australia allows a name change to be made AT ALL on the basic tickets. You would be stuck purchasing a completely new ticket if it was with another airline. So get the hell over it.

Even if you were in the right

Even if you were in the right and do everything accordingly Jetstar will still stuff things up!

I recently changed my name legally by grant and since the new name will be used on my travel documents I rang up Jetstar to ask them how I could change my name on the booking. They told me they have no email address and I would have to fax my name change document to an australian number and I complied. I even sent them a cover letter stating clearly the flight information and the purpose of my fax. I then rang them up to make sure they have received my fax and I was ensured by a call centre staff that I would have my new intinerary sent to me by 29th Nov. But when I checked my email today I got a notice from Jetstar saying that my refund was being processed, wtf? I didnt ask for a refund! Are you kidding me? I rang up Jetstar yet again and this time the staff member told me this matter would be resolved in 15 working days. What happened to 29th Nov?????? I asked her if I will be receiving a comfirmation email saying that I'm now being processed for a name change, she said there is no guarantee. Huh????????
