Dr. Nicholas Al-Jeloo

I'm never traveling with Jetstar again. First, they have a strict 7 kg policy for all hand luggage, which is ridiculous. When I arrived to check in, both my hand luggage and personal item weighed more than this limit, so they made me shift items into in my hand luggage and then check it in. To be able to do that, I was charged a whopping fee of $165 - which I begrudgingly paid.

This has never happened to me in my traveling history, and I have travelled nearly each year since 2002 - sometimes up to three times in the same year - to over 25 different countries. To add insult to injury, half the overhead storage compartments on the plane were empty, and it was definitely not a full flight - the entire row behind me was devoid of passengers.

Not even complimentary drinking water was offered on the flight, and the gate ended up being a 20 minute never-ending trek from the luggage carousel and then the pick up area. The Jetstar terminal at Melbourne Tullamarine airport is nice and new, but so inconvenient.

At the carousel, after my main checked bag finally arrived, I could find no trace of the hand luggage I was forced to check in. This was weird because they had both gone in together at check-in in Sydney - and I expected the both of them to arrive in Melbourne together!

I asked the Jetstar baggage desk and they told me it had gone onto a Virgin flight (?) and would be put on the next flight to Melbourne, but would have to be delivered to me the first thing tomorrow at 8 am. Completely inconvenient, and not the kind of service you expect when you have paid $165 for it! The Jetstar employees were completely unsympathetic to my situation.

I demanded a refund from the baggage desk and they sent me to the service desk. The guy there, someone called "Sam", tried to send me back to the baggage desk and began to talk down at me and condescend me, explaining things to me as if I were a 5 year old who could not speak English. He would not let me talk and kept talking over me. When I told him I was never going to travel with Jetstar again, he said that Jetstar didn't want people like me to travel with them.

This is unacceptable treatment and service. I demand a complete refund from Jetstar, and I plan on never traveling with them again. This is the worst airline for domestic or international travel in Australia!

Over weight hand luggage is a problem for all airlines. The overhead lockers only have a certain capacity and what people try to take on board to avoid extra luggage fees. Hooray to Jetstar for enforcing the 7kg limit. You should only take on board things that you might use. Obviously you have never been hit by a piece which has fallen down on landing from an overhead locker!

So Dr u are complaining bc

So Dr u are complaining bc they wouldnt change the rules for you... if people keep ignoring the rules the airlines will simply say no carryon at all... so suck it up princess

I've been travelling with Jetstar for quite sometime now and this is by far the poorest service that I have experienced together with my family. The boarding gate passenger assistant were very, very rude in the way she instructed that there should only be two hand-carry luggages. Even telling in our face in loud voice that we should pay for extra baggages. Our handcarrie d items were weighed at the check-in counter and we did not even exceed the 7 kilos limit for each passenger and bought some stuff at the Duty-Free section and other commissaries and as such it's unavoidable to carry such items limit to 2 each. I understand these airport have protocols to follow, however they should still consider and do the best and appropriate conduct and explanation in dealing with passengers concerns and avoid rudeness.
