I want my money back.

Flight 1: 17/7 JQ1 scheduled to fly Melbourne to Honolulu. The Day before I get a text saying my flight is delayed 16hrs, so no departure until 18/7. No offer of any compensation. Onboard the cabin manager makes a PA saying they would give us free meals BUT only because they have excess and 'we all need to keep in mind it's not company policy to give us anything free' despite the excessive delay.

Flight 2: flight home to Melbourne JQ2 scheduled to depart Hawaii 24/7 delayed 32hrs and counting. Yes I am still in Hawaii waiting to go home.

Looking at Flight Aware the last 8 instances the jq1/jq2 have had 2 cancellations. The other 6 delayed significantly.

Jetstar has given me a $25 voucher which expires in 6 months as my only compensation.

I cannot believe how horrible this airline is. Surely it's time for the gov. To do as they EU has and set minimum standards of compensation. I should have a full refund for a 30hr delay!

You're lucky to be given that much really, as the conditions of carriage state:

9.1 Schedules

(a) Jetstar does not guarantee it will be able to carry you and your Baggage in accordance with the scheduled date and time of the flights specified. Schedules may change without notice for a range of reasons including but not limited to bad weather, air traffic control delays, strikes, technical disruptions and late inbound aircraft. Flight times do not form part of your contract of carriage with us.

However:

(c) If, after you pay for your Booking, we make a significant change to the scheduled departure time of your flight or the flight is cancelled (except where this is due to circumstances beyond our control) and:

this change means you are unable to use your Booking for its intended purpose, and
we or our Authorised Agents cannot book you on another flight which you are prepared to accept;
we will give you a fare refund. Unless provided for in a Convention or any applicable law, we will not be responsible for paying any costs or expenses you may incur as a result of the changed time or cancellation.

Note also though:

9.2 Changes due to circumstances beyond our control

Where a delay or cancellation is caused by circumstances beyond our control, whether you have checked in or not, Jetstar will try to assist you to get to your destination, but will not be responsible for paying any costs or expenses you may incur as a result of the delay or cancellation, unless otherwise required by law.
