Missed Presenting at an International Conference

Thank you Jetstar Airways for moving my flight a day later, just before I am to attend an international conference. Now, unless I move the flight foward two days (meaning I will have to miss two days of work and pay for an extra two days hotel stay) I will miss my connecting flight (also Jetstar) as well as the first day of the conference (the day I am to do my presentation). Thanks again. No, really, it was my own fault for thinking that it was a good idea to fly with you, despite my better judgement. Moral: NEVER FLY JETSTAR.

1. Sometimes I think Jetstar

1. Sometimes I think Jetstar likes to make people mad!!
2. Do they ever make anyone happy?
3. How do they stay in business?
4. Do the people in charge of Jetstar ever read these complaints and try to make things right?

The only response was that

The only response was that they could refund my money. This leaves me with no ticket less than a week before I need to fly. Never again Jetstar! The low price is just not worth it! I just to warn other people so this doesn't happen to them.

Recently I booked a flight

Recently I booked a flight from Japan to Sydney. I arrived at the airport and missed check in by 60 seconds. The staff refused to give my ticket that I paid 1000 USD for. I told them the plane is still on the ground for 59 minutes and I can easily make it. They refused to give me my ticket and told me to buy a one way ticket to Sydney for 1000 dollars. I was infuriated but because I was so desperate I caved and told the Jetstar staff I would buy the ticket with my JCB credit card. They told me that they wouldn't accept it. They wouldn't accept the same credit card I used to book my trip to begin with! At this point I'm very upset to the point I am yelling at the staff telling them how ridiculous the situation is. The staff simply tells me that it would be unfair to the other customers if they let me board the plane after missing check in and they won't refund my return ticket because I got a basic ticket. He is being rude to me the entire time so I ask for his name and he gives me a fake name (I had to see his ID to see his real name!) I tell him I want to see the manager and he refuses and tell me to call Jetstar instead. I call Jetstar and the staff tells me there I have to submit an online complaint, not that it would be of any help. I've never been so humiliated and to top it all off I lost 1000 dollars for nothing!! They could of easily let me in 60 seconds after check in closed but they refused to help me. I will NEVER fly jetstar again and I will tell everyone else not to as well.

Lindsay I believe you are

Lindsay I believe you are entitled to some form of compensation under the Australian Consumer Law. I fought Jetstar for 6 months for a refund because they rescheduled my flight. I eventually took them to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and had my case heard by a magistrate. I won the case and Jetstar had to pay my out of pocket expenses. The small print in Jetstar's contract that tells you the ticket is non-refundable or that you are not entitled to compensation means Jack shit in the eyes of the law. If they cancel the flight for "operational reasons" and not as a result of unavoidable causes like inclement weather or airport issues, then you are entitled to your out of pocket expenses. Write to them using their useless web feedback form and ask for compensation. Tell them that if you do not hear within say 15 days that you will take action in the Small Claims Tribunal in your State. If they don't respond within that time frame, don't waste your time calling them or writing to them again. These jokers have mastered the art of ignoring complaints hoping that you will give up. Download the dispute form from the Small Claims Tribunal (in Queensland this is QCAT), fill it in, pay the small fee (in Qld it is $21.50) and send it straight away. You will be surprised how quickly you will hear from Jetstar. If you want more information read my case under "result of my law suite against Jetstar" on this site.

Good luck.
