No refund

I have travelled with Jetstar between Hobart and Melbourne regularly for the last 3 years. Last week I found out my booking was from Melbourne to Hobart instead of the other way around. I am not sure if I did this, very odd. Noticed mistake when I went to book hire car the afternoon before due flight and flight locations did not match. I rang Jetstar ( Manilla) and was told I had to pay $70 to change it. I stayed calm and allowed that. Then she said I had to pay difference in flight costs which were $329 actually more than the flights. Now I was angry. I asked to speak to someone in Australia who understood what I was trying to say. She put me on hold for half an hour and I know she just left me there. I rang again and Manilla again. I had to be there the next day so had to re-book. Wrote letter of complaint and just received letter today with patronizing overtones " "I'm sorry if you were hoping I might be able to offer you more options, but I'm afraid that change fee, and fare difference are non-refundable."
Just rang the "holiday packages" option and did get an Aussie. he told me to go to Jetstar page, go to contacts, then compassionate request. This is only if you were ill or someone died.
Anyone have any more options. Angry as I am going back to Melbourne in 2 days and booked Jetstar again. I would be happy to have a return ticket instead of refund.
Any ideas anyone?

Hi Lou, let us know how you go? I hope they appreciate you are a frequent traveller with them, as I am - I will be interested to know how they handle your complaint. I was thinking of trying a different airline? They messed up some of my group seating on both return and departure flights recently and it caused us a lot of grief as we had younger passengers traveling with us. They did refund us the cost of the extra for the seats but it didn't really fix the problem that had occured. Been tossing up since then, so I will wait and see how you go with them and then decide!
