The reason why Jetstar is a low-cost air carrier but earns huge profits by is charging excess baggage fees!!

We made an online booking and as a first-time customer, i did not check the option for check-in baggage, thinking they refer to those carriers that we bring up to the plane. The fee charged than was $15. Went back the website after payment and realise that we missed out on the check-in baggage, they charged an additional $8 for a one-way trip, which amounts to $16 per person. Found out online that if we were to pay on the day of departure, it will be $60 per person. How despicable! I am not petty about the money being charged here. But the customer service receives truly sucks. The letter is just plain bureaucratic and even take the opportunity to entice gullible customers to use their service again by offering $50 complimentary travel voucher. What use is it to me when I don't plan to even engage in their service anymore. I don't think the word service even applies here, because there is particularly none. Did not even adhere to the response timeline specified in the website. I am plain disappointed. This is my first and last encounter this sucky low -cost zero service air line again. To all potential Jetstar flyers, please please keep your eyes peeled when you make an online booking. If you wish to rectify whatever you booked earlier, they will find ways and means to squeeze more money from your pocket.

baggage fees and inexcusable extra fees full stop.

They're still over-rated with

They're still over-rated with their fees, even if you are aware of them. You could be over by 2kg and be charged something like $50 fee in-hand.

"I'm sorry, you have to repack/throw stuff out of the bags or pay the fee." Yeah I'll just casually open my bags in an airport and empty out junk, also making me rush for boarding." You spend less catching a taxi to the airport rather than the excess baggage fees. It's an easy money-maker for them.

It's not Jetstar's fault you

It's not Jetstar's fault you didn't understand the meaning of the term "check-in baggage" and turned up with baggage to check in, you're lucky you even received a voucher!
