SHAME ON YOU JETSTAR !!!!

COST US $200 BETWEEN US TO CHANGE FLIGHTS FROM PERTH TO SYDNEY

We were offered on line a flight from Perth to Sydney and return, which was a good price, but obvioulsy after all the charges etc it amounted to much more, 5 minutes after booking on line I relalised that in fact I had put the wrong return date in, contacted the call centre straight away (somewhere overseas) and it was hard enough to be able to make the contact at the call centre understand what I was saying, and was told that we had to pay to change the flights fron Sydney to Perth an amount of $200. Upon checking on the website the next day on the Jetstar site, I found it was in fact only $70 changes per person and not $100 as told, I asked the call centre again today why was there a differential in the charges stated on site to the amount we were in fact charged and was told that it was now a different price ticket to return to Perth fron Sydney., which totalledd it to $200,
and not $140 it states on the web site, surley there must be a law somewhere that stops firstly this gross overcharging and secondly stops the call centre people fron just coming up with a blanket answer of $200 for the changes.Shame on you Jetstar, I have travelled around the world and back many times on different airlines, and am embarresed to say that Jetstar is Australian, what must the travellers from overseas think of this airline? and here we are trying to encourage travel between Australia and the rest of the world, when we cant even play fair between Perth and Sydney. If this is before the flights we make god help us when we actually go to fly with this airline, we have more to come I wouldn't wonder!!

Hi Vicky, I’m sorry that

Hi Vicky,

I’m sorry that you’re unhappy with the cost to change your booking after you made an error with your flight dates.

When you make a booking on the Jetstar website, we try to ensure our passengers are aware of what they are booking which is why we show you the flight time and date on three separate pages, the “Select flights” page as well as the “Passengers” and “Payments” page. Before you confirm the booking and click the “Purchase” button, you need to ensure that you’ve selected the right flight and time and that you’ve only included the extras that you want.

It’s important to take the time to check these things, because once you click “Purchase”, you agree to book these flights and to pay the amount shown.

If a mistake occurs, and you’ve booked our Starter fares, you will need to pay a change fee per passenger, per flight and any applicable fare difference between the flight you booked, and the cost of the flight that you actually want to travel on.

Whilst you can call our Reservations team and request their assistance to help you make the required changes, if you feel confident making the changes yourself, you can do this via our website through “Manage my Booking”, which can work out to be a lot cheaper as the online change fee is only AUD $40.00 per passenger, per flight.

I can see in your booking that you have had the error corrected by one of our Reservations agents and you were charged AUD $200.00 for this. I can confirm that AUD $140.00 of this represents the AUD $70.00 change fee per person and the remaining AUD $60.00 accounts for the fare difference between the flight you purchased and the flight you changed to.

I apologise if our Starter fare rules have made your journey difficult in any way. Still, I hope you’ll appreciate that we need to apply our fare rules consistently for all our passengers, to continue to offer every day low fares to our customers.

Thanks - Amanda

What a shame you don't listen

What a shame you don't listen to the conversations that I had with your call centre, and reply to the questions that were asked. I was aware that there would be a change fee (which frankly is way too much) but what really got into my craw, and what the customer service person that I was talking to told me, was the cost would be a straight $200 for both of our fares to be changed for one leg of the trip, at no time did he explain that in fact it was only $70 per person and the rest was increased fare because we had to change the dates. Maybe your call centre staff should deliver the correct information to your paying customers or just maybe some kind of training would be in order before you set them loose on your paying customers, as they are giving false information to your customers, and I think that there is some legality there!!
Once again and I repeat, Shame on you Jetstar for overcharging for changing one leg of our flight within 5 minutes of booking it, what did your call centre have to do for this money, press a few buttons?
As I said before I wont be thinking of travelling with your airline again, there is an old saying that I am sure you have heard before " You are happy with the service you get you tell 5 people, you are unhappy you tell 20" Maybe you should think about this Jetstar and you wouldn't have so many customer complaints on your web page!

Another patronising screed

Another patronising screed from Amanda at Jet Star. Come on. All of this info is NOT displayed on the website. If a customer, such as Mrs Smith above, makes a legitimate complain address her PERSONALLY, not via a jet star complaints website!
Grow up, please.
