Two staffs said OK to Violin on board / Two staffs kicked me out for that..

Long story short? Was very rudely treated and in the end could go home that night.

The staff LIED and OVER TOLD STORIES to get their way out of it, and made me look like a criminal.

Is this what you want to hear, without even before you explain things, or get explanation?
- "DO YOU WANT TO GO HOME OR NOT?" in a very rude manner?

BAGGAGE:

- Arrive at the airport 1.5 hours before the flight time for a very good reason.
- Checked in a baggage, also asked if it was ok to take my violin on board - it was last min decision to take it, so I knew that they might refuse, and was ready to send it back with my sister.
-Two staffs said OK to it.

GATE:

-I was in the first group to get on board, but was stopped at the gate, told to demonstrate if it could fit in the little measuring thing.
-I explained it's a violin, i was confirmed by two staffs, the response was

"Get over there and wait for ground staff" RUDE!

- I waited on a corner till everyone went in, but I did managed to talk to a group of girls about it, who also were musicians and exchanged business numbers with before.

-Everyone went in, the ground staff called me,
"That'll have to go under, it won't fit in, you can't take it on board"

-I explained the same thing again, She did not say anything about that but repeated her self again in same manner,
-I tried to explain the safety of violin then she cut me in the middle of it.

"DO YOU WANT TO GO HOME OR NOT?" Threatening..

-Then I raised my voice, asking back if she was really asking what she was asking, then she started saying

"ALL ARE ON BOARD, I CAN"T LET THEM WAIT, THEY ARE GOING TO BE LATE BECAUSE OF YOU"

-But really, they stood me there until everyone went in, did not give me an option, and the conversation had been only a couple of mins.

-Then I asked about the safety of my violin, her response was,

"I DON"T KNOW, I"M NOT THE ONE DOING THE BAGGAGES"

-By this stage, I was shaking from the anger, just how much they didn't want to help.
-We both raised our voice, in the end I called her a name. Not like swearing on, Just one single "B" out of just so much anger. but did give her an apology.
-But yes, did get refused entry. they've been threatening way before than anyways, it was either loose your violin or shut up and get on..

*FACT: they can give shits to people, but they won't take shits from others.

- I was worried of my two children, I've asked to be on board but refused.
- Then I asked what was happening with my checked in baggage, response was "I DON"T KNOW"

- I rang up police, but they have asked me to get supervisor, so I asked for supervisor.
- Her response was "You go sit down and wait, I will call the supervisor when the supervisor is ready" - How do you know when the supervisor will be ready or not?"

-Then she was on the phone, telling "STORIES" and really OVER TELLING IT how i grabbed people and started talking about getting refused because of violin. I was talking to the girls that I'd met before who was a musician, and we had the conversation about violin on board before.

- I waited a while, she came throws me a piece of paper with "RESERVATION NUMBER" saying

"NO SUPERVISOR IS AVAILABLE AT THIS LATE HOURS"

- Serious? should've known that and told me that earlier before I waited so long in that late hour.

AFTER A WHILE...

I get text msg from the girls who was on board, disgusted, telling me that the staffs were laughing their heads off bitching about it, all the passengers could hear it, and it was just so disgusting to hear it.

EVERYTHING happened in such a quick time, but really, I would love to see a footage of the whole thing if there is one.

Jetstar don't have customer service at all.

i feel so sorry for you, this

i feel so sorry for you, this is a similar story to one i heard when a passenger was at syd, a male jetstar staff member touched, her yelling ad swearing at her, pushing her etc, disgusting jetstar just dont give a sh**. Next time dont fly with them or qantas fly virgin. So sorry to hear this.

Sorry for the trouble, but

Sorry for the trouble, but not suprised. Yet another perfect example of jetstar's complete lack of customer service. The interesting thing is that not only are the staff poorly trained, but they have the personality and empathy of a poison toad.
jetstar seem to make a point of hiring arseholes, or maybe just bottom-of-the-barrel bogans who are willing to work for minimum wage. Either way, there's a distinct pattern.
Just never fly with them again, tell as many people as possible. Even post flyers around the office like I have!

i have been on this

i have been on this website, attacking and being attacked, rude i was, sarcastic too..but this is totally too much and i do hope u would accept my appology with regards to this (though i do not work for them directly)

This is an appalling example

This is an appalling example of Jetstar custmer service. Unfortunately, because you raised your voice and swore at staff, it does give them good reason to refuse you entry.

Thank you guys, And John,

Thank you guys, And John, that's exactly right, I gave them the "KEY" so that they can blame me entirely, I am actually shocked I said it, so embarrassed too, but just was so angry lol Besides, they gave me no other options and I probably wouldn't have got on anyway...

Travis, I totally agree, I

Travis,

I totally agree, I would think it's not something they are trained to do, but really it's their poisonous personality... Or they just get brain washed during their training or something.. lol It's probably embarrassing for them to say they work for Jetstar as well lol

Why didn't you put it through

Why didn't you put it through checked luggage? Its the best part of $10 more and you wouldn't have annoyed their staff trying to be cheap and bypassing checked luggage.

@Macca, I guess you don't

@Macca,

I guess you don't have any idea on musical instruments, not just any but very expensive and fragile string instruments. I've been on news and many occasions where the violin is completely ruined.

Do I trust those ppl handling luggage? Don't think so, and will I get my $7000 back if it'd damaged? I don't think so even with their insurance.

Besides, I did not want to annoy others, that's why I went early to confirm if it was ok, so that I could either carry it on board or send it back with my sister.

You must work for Jetstar... Clueless + Careless ppl...

Yrose, Violins come in solid

Yrose, Violins come in solid cases which are designed to withstand significant force. I have a friend who put a violin through checked luggage before without problems. BTW You got ripped off if you bought a Violin for $7000 dollars.

Ok, this is where it pisses

Ok, this is where it pisses me off. there are good enough reason that people don't put violins in as luggage, simply don't want to "RISK" it, and my case is hard case.

Second, All violin prices are different, depends where's its made and when it's made. even with that price, $7000 isn't cheap, but also not too expensive for violins, still consider it a "practice violin" . So if your friend's got a violin so cheap? God, must've just started playing...
Do some study... Just stop embarrassing yourself with cheap thoughts.

Also you just don't see the problem do you, what pisses me off, is that they gave me a go ahead, then takes it away very rudely.

I have my reasons and concerns for the safety of my violin, I tried for the better outcome, they gave me two different stories.

God you make me laugh...
Budget airline, Pfft!! I did not pay cheap for the ticket either..

Just sick of seeing ppl who just can't even imagine the "better quality"

I'm done talking to you "Mr/Ms cheap"...

@ Macca - So now your a

@ Macca - So now your a professional violinist eh? The only instrument you play with my friend is your teeny tiny micro penis. You're the one who has been ripped off dude.....twice in fact.......one for having a small d*ck and the other for working at Jetstar. Sad state of affairs.

I got frustrated just by

I got frustrated just by reading this post...and then the comments that followed. I was actually forced to check my violin in at the check-in counter and was told that I wasn't getting my boarding pass unless I did. I guess not many know about the fragility and price of a musical instrument?

@Macca You are obviously of

@Macca
You are obviously of the opinion that being a musician is not a profession, and clearly you don't own anything of actual value.
I will not let my $50000+ violin in the hold of any plane.
If the case is dropped by handling, the instrument risks damage
If the case is knocked by handling, or movement in the hold, the instrument risks damage
If the instrument suffers sudden changes in temperature, it risks cracking in the joins and joints - sudden temperature changes are 100% certain in the hold of a plane.
