$800 to change a passengers name?

July I booked flights for September to Bali for myself and a friend. As the dates were specific, I forked out $1,300 per passenger to fly on the specific dates. The only thing I didn't analyse is the fact the flights were with JetStar. After my friend telling me he was unable to go I searched online to 'Manage my bookings' which is really "We have no website connections to your booking, so just call us and talk to a second-language speaking drone". After waiting 30minutes I was told it would cost an extra $800.00 to change the name of a passenger. After playing verbal chess with the moron on the line, he stated the payment was due to airport security then when told that was an excuse and provided with legal and valid reasons why that was an inappropriate excuse he then went on to state he had to cancel the booking and make a new booking all because the name of the passenger was different. What if the passenger married between ticket purchase and time of holiday? their surname would be different. Does this mean they would also incur an $800 fee because surnames don't match up?

Moral of the story: DO NOT fly with imbeciles.

I'll be taking this further. I'll have my flight, and I won't be paying for a name change. Wish Jetstar luck for this one!
