Bali - Volcanic Ash Cloud Disruptions
Last Updated: 12/11/2015 12:10 AM
UPDATE: We are currently experiencing extremely high call volumes in our Contact Centre. Please refer to ‘Manage Booking’ on Jetstar.com to check the status of your booking. Emails and SMS will be sent to rebooked passengers. Please note that all operational services for Thursday 12 November are booked and we aren’t able to move additional customers to these flights. We will contact more customers as soon as additional services become available to them. Please continue to check this page as well as checking for any emails and SMS that Jetstar may send you.
Update on Bali flights for Thursday, 12 November 2015
(Published 7.00pm AEDT, 11-11-2015)
11 recovery flights planned for tomorrow
Flying conditions are forecast to remain favourable, with the latest satellite imagery from around Bali indicating we’ll be able to fly daytime services tomorrow (Thursday).
We have cancelled all scheduled flights tomorrow and plan to fly 11 recovery flights in daylight hours.
RECOVERY FLIGHTS: We plan to operate up to 11 recovery flights from Bali tomorrow, and will connect customers on to domestic Australia flights as needed. (See list of recovery flights below.)
We are contacting customers booked on these services directly and all flights are now fully booked. If you haven’t received an email or text message with revised booking details, please check the Manage My Booking section on our website or smartphone app.
At this stage, our priority is getting as many customers home as possible and we don’t want to see flights depart with empty seats. We have seen high rates of no shows on recovery flights so, to ensure all available seats are filled, we will be overbooking some of these flights. For those who miss out on a seat as a result of overbooking, we will arrange accommodation and meal vouchers and confirm a spot on the next available service.
SCHEDULED FLIGHTS: Thursday’s scheduled services to and from Australia have been cancelled. (See list of cancelled flights below.)
While we’re hopeful the conditions will be safe for us to operate tomorrow, experience over the past week shows the ash cloud position can change quickly. If conditions once again deteriorate and we have to cancel flights, we’ll provide an update as soon as we can.
We know this has been a frustrating time for everyone and we hope get all of our customers home as soon as possible.
We will post our next update tomorrow morning.

BEFORE TRAVELLING TO ANY AIRPORT
Check this Travel Alert and the flight status page on Jetstar.com for the latest update on flights. You will have received an email and/or SMS update from Jetstar if:
- Your scheduled flight time has been changed
- Your scheduled flight has been cancelled
- You have been rebooked on an additional (recovery) flight from Bali after your flight was previously cancelled.
We would like to thank all our customers for their patience as we work through our recovery process to get everyone to their destination as soon as we can.
LIMITED RECOVERY FLIGHTS
As we have done previously, we will operate recovery services when possible.
Customers will be notified about travelling on limited additional (recovery) flights in order of earliest disruption (from 3 November onwards). In addition, a number of customers who have previously advised urgent medical requirements may also be contacted.
Customers who booked through Travel Agents may wish to contact those agents to update their bookings with their own personal details.
As noted above, we will be contacting customers for these flights by email and SMS to advise new flight details.
DISRUPTED CUSTOMERS OR CUSTOMERS WISHING TO AMEND TRAVEL PLANS
If you're in Bali and your flight has been cancelled:
Please check your text messages and email to see if you have received an update from Jetstar. Please DO NOT go to the airport unless you have been sent new flight details.
If you do not receive new flight details or an updated departure time you don’t need to take any further action – we will rebook customers when flights are available and notify you by email and SMS when we have arranged your journey home as soon as it is safe to do so.
Customers should ensure they check and comply with Indonesian visa and immigration requirements, including obtaining any required visa extensions.
If you have a medical concern we recommend you consult with local medical services and/or your travel insurer’s emergency hotline.
