Update on Bali flights for Wednesday, 10 November 2015

(Published 11.00am AEDT, 11-11-2015)

Possible recovery flights Wednesday

Flying conditions have improved today, with the latest forecast from around Bali indicating there is an opportunity for limited daytime flying.

RECOVERY FLIGHTS: We plan to operate up to four recovery flights from Bali today, and will connect customers on to domestic Australia flights as needed. (See list of recovery flights below.)

We will contact customers booked on these services directly.

SCHEDULED FLIGHTS: Our scheduled services to and from Australia for today, which we cancelled overnight, remain cancelled. (See list of cancelled flights below.)

As we’ve seen over the past week, the movement of the ash cloud is highly unpredictable. Flying conditions are subject to change based on assessment of safety to fly and local flight approvals.

Yesterday we operated four aircraft from Australia to Bali to recover customers who had been disrupted, but these were turned around due to the ash cloud being too close to Denpasar Airport for safe operations.

As a Qantas Group airline, Jetstar operates according to a set of strict safety standards. We take a conservative approach, putting safety before schedule, and only operate services when our senior pilots and meteorologists deem it safe to do so.

We know this is a frustrating time for everyone. We are doing everything we can to get customers home.

We will post our next update today (Wednesday) afternoon.

Check this Travel Alert and the flight status page on Jetstar.com for the latest update on flights. You will have received an email and/or SMS update from Jetstar if:

  • Your scheduled flight time has been changed
  • Your scheduled flight has been cancelled
  • You have been rebooked on an additional (recovery) flight from Bali after your flight was previously cancelled.

We would like to thank all our customers for their patience as we work through our recovery process to get everyone to their destination as soon as we can.

LIMITED RECOVERY FLIGHTS

As we have done previously, we will operate recovery services when possible.

Customers will be notified about travelling on limited additional (recovery) flights in order of earliest disruption (from 3 November onwards). In addition, a number of customers who have previously advised urgent medical requirements may also be contacted.

Customers who booked through Travel Agents may wish to contact those agents to update their bookings with their own personal details.

As noted above, we will be contacting customers for these flights by email and SMS to advise new flight details.

DISRUPTED CUSTOMERS OR CUSTOMERS WISHING TO AMEND TRAVEL PLANS

If you're in Bali and your flight has been cancelled:

Please check your text messages and email to see if you have received an update from Jetstar. Please DO NOT go to the airport unless you have been sent new flight details.

If you do not receive new flight details or an updated departure time you don’t need to take any further action – we will rebook customers when flights are available and notify you by email and SMS when we have arranged your journey home as soon as it is safe to do so.

Customers should ensure they check and comply with Indonesian visa and immigration requirements, including obtaining any required visa extensions.

If you have a medical concern we recommend you consult with local medical services and/or your travel insurer’s emergency hotline.
