Extension of Cancellations

(Last updated 11 am AEST, 18 May 2020)

With passenger demand still low due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we have cancelled a large number of our domestic flights through to the end of June 2020. International flight cancellations will be extended through to the end of July 2020.

We are still flying some domestic services for essential travel and to help transport freight, including medical supplies in Australia. You can book these flights on Jetstar.com but remember various quarantine restrictions apply across states and territories (see below).

We have also extended our international flight cancellations to the end of July 2020.

We've contacted customers on affected flights by email to let them know their options, which include a credit voucher for the full value of their booking.

If you have any questions about flight cancellations, please check out our FAQs.

Greater flexibility when using credit vouchers

Following customer feedback, we’ve recently improved our travel vouchers. From mid-June, all new and existing vouchers issued as a result of the COVID-19 impact on travel can be used across multiple future bookings. That means customers can use the value of their voucher to book more than one trip.

We also recently extended our voucher expiry dates, giving customers 12 months to redeem a voucher and book any available flight. Our flights are generally made available around 12 months in advance, so customers will have about two years to travel.

As per the existing arrangements, Jetstar customers will need to pay any fare difference if the new bookings cost more than the value of their travel voucher.

If you booked through a travel agent or third party websites (e.g. Flight Centre) you will need to contact them directly.

Voucher extension for international travel

We’ve also introduced further flexibility for Jetstar Airways (JQ) customers with international bookings~. If you’re booked to fly between 1 August and 31 October and you want to change your plans, you can cancel your booking and retain the full value as a credit voucher.

Vouchers must be requested by 30 June and are now valid for 12 months. When you’re ready to rebook you’ll need to cover any Fare Difference in your new booking. Your voucher can be redeemed for any available flight. We usually make flights available 12 months in advance, so you’ll have about 2 years to travel. This excludes flights between Australia and New Zealand, and between Auckland and Rarotonga.

To request a voucher, go to Manage Booking and follow these easy steps. We'll email the voucher to you within 14 business days.
  • Click on the 'Find out More' button
  • Select 'Check flight Options' button
  • Click 'View other Options' button
  • Select 'Request reimbursement' button
Domestic services supported by the Federal Government

We're still flying a small number of domestic services for essential travel and to help transport freight, including medical supplies as part of the Australian Government’s minimum domestic network.

Customers can book at jetstar.com and are reminded that various quarantine restrictions apply across states and territories.

Help ease travel restrictions faster with the COVIDSafe App

We encourage all Australians to download and activate the COVIDSafe app.

The app helps state and territory officials to quickly contact people who may have been exposed to the virus. It’s easy, it’s secure and ultimately, it will mean less restrictions, which will let us all travel again sooner.

The COVIDSafe app also gives you extra reassurance if you are travelling. For more information and to download the app head here.
