Update on Bali flights

Last Updated: 29/06/2018 08:31 AM

UPDATE: 7PM AEST, Friday 29 June

Flying conditions around Denpasar Airport have improved and the airport has reopened. As a result, our scheduled flights to and from Bali have resumed this afternoon.

At this stage, all scheduled flights on Saturday are planned to operate, subject to any change in conditions.

Volcanic activity is unpredictable, so please be aware that conditions can change rapidly. We will update you immediately if there is any change to our schedule.

If you are on a scheduled flight, before heading to the airport please check the status of your flight from the Flight status page on Jetstar.com or via our smartphone app.

If you are in Bali and your flight has been cancelled:

As there is no availability on existing flights due to school holidays, we are working to operate some relief flights out of Bali over the weekend to get as many people back to Australia as possible.

Once we are able to confirm relief flights, we will contact you directly via email and SMS to advise when you have been booked on a flight. Customers will be booked on these services in order of who has been disrupted longest.

Please bear in mind there is a backlog of customers waiting to fly so it may take several days before you are booked on a flight.

If you have not yet received any emails or SMS from us about flights, please ensure your details are up to date, and get in touch with us via the ‘Chat now’ button at the top of this page.

If you are in Australia and your flight to Bali has been cancelled:

You can view alternative available flights to Bali through Manage My Booking. However, please be aware that due to school holidays, availability is extremely limited.

Volcanic eruptions at Mount Agung are unpredictable and conditions can change at short notice, so we encourage customers who have had their flight cancelled to Bali to consider alternative options available.

We have a range of alternative options on offer, including the option to change travel dates to Bali, or to fly to another international destination, such as Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, Singapore and Fiji.

You can also opt to get a credit voucher for the full amount of your booking.

This Travel Alert will be updated if there are any changes to conditions that affect flights.

UPDATE: 9AM AEST, Friday 29 June

Flying conditions around Bali continue to be affected by the ash cloud from the Mount Agung volcano, and Denpasar Airport is currently closed.

As a result, we have cancelled several flights this morning to and from Bali – see list of cancelled flights and travel options below.

We have contacted customers on affected flights directly via sms and email.

Our senior pilots will make an assessment with the latest information and forecasts from the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre and we will provide another update by 2pm AEST regarding this afternoon’s flights.

While these disruptions are frustrating, we will always put safety before schedule. We appreciate our customers’ patience and are doing everything we can to get customers moving as quickly as possible.

If you are currently in Bali and your flight has been cancelled:

  • We will contact you with your new flight details once it is safe to resume flying.
  • Please do not manually rebook your flights.

If you are in Australia or Singapore and your flight has been cancelled:

  • Please be aware that availability to Bali is extremely limited over coming days due to school holidays.
