Astonishing excess baggage fees

I flew to Adelaide for the Clipsall 500 car races. They made me pay $270 dollars for 18 Kgrs of excess baggage. My tfare + 20 Kgrs totaling 100 Kgrs was $109. Where is the fairness in that. I will not be flying "rip you off when your not looking" JETSTAR again.

Wow $15 per kilo, who in their right mind would have thought excess baggage charges by air travel would be expensive... Next time fly Virgin - they too charge $15 per kilo. Or maybe if you want to pay more try Tiger - $20 per kilo. Whinger...

And Qantas is $10 a kilo..

Phil, the Qantas ticket will usually be considerably higher on the same route. Jetstar offers more choice. Save money by starting with a base fare, pay for any extras you require. If that means charging a higher rate on some of those extras, then so be it. At least it is inline with other budget carriers. I don't understand who needs 38kg of baggage anyway. Do you have any idea how much that would cost if using a freight company like FedEx for example?
