Cancel a flight and don't care what effect it has on their passengers

I recently had a bad experience with Jetstar when I received a cancellation of my scheduled flight from Melbourne to Cairns at 4.30pm. They just said the next available flight on the day was at 1:30pm, not realising that because they don't have connecting flights as such anymore and people have to now book separate flights, that this was in huge conflict with a flight I was on out of Launceston to Melbourne that morning which wasn't arriving till 1.30pm - and when I explained that to the customer service lady that I can't physically be in 2 places at once..she said 'oh yeah right'.

So then it turned into a whole excuse about how unfortunately these things happen and they are sorry it has had an effect and I can put you on a different flight on a different day and I'm said 'I have accommodation booked, I'm not going to just cut a trip short a day because of you turkeys! When I asked if she could check other service providers.. perhaps Qantas and when she saw the price of it. because it is now days out of my travel and the prices are through the roof.. she was like oh yeh well we wont pay for this. We can only refund your flight or put you on another day. and I'm like well if I need to stay a night in Melbourne are you going to pay for that and she's like no we don't pay for hotel accommodation we are just a flight service.. and a crap one at that!!!!

So then to top it all off when I got really upset about how much of an inconvenience this was and told her to speak to her management, she did and came back and said that the only way of escalating it was to lodge a formal complaint on their website .. what a cop out!!!!!

The frustration of it all is they all suck and are as bad as one another.. and they know that people will come back and fly with them again because there is little competitive choice... unless you can afford to own your own plane!

Get on to your local federal member with your complaint. These tyrants must be stopped.

Federal member won't do shit. It's a point to point airline. Try are not required to put you up on a hotel or get you onto another airline. Taking it out on a call centre worker is not going to help.

Jetstar are not even a little

Jetstar are not even a little bit responsible for your travel after or before your flight with them. If their flight is cancelled they have no responsibility to you with relation to anything but that specific flight.

Spend a bit more and travel with a full service carrier the whole way through and there would be no problem. Try to save some money and not book an itinerary without connections, you lose out if something goes wrong.
