I received a text from Jetstar at 8.20pm on Wednesday 20 July to inform me that my 4.50 pm flight the next day had been cancelled and that I was now to depart Auckland to return home on Friday 22 July at 9.00pm. I contacted Jetstar the next morning to inform them that it was essential that I was back in Melbourne by the Thursday and asked if they could transfer me to a Qantas flight. All I received was an apology and that I could cancel my flight receive a refund, but I would need to arrange a flight back home. This I did, but the return trip for my wife and I cost over $1,000 compared to the original airfares of $420 return for both.

My husband is now in exactly the same situation due to changed times with Jetstar. We will never book with them again and will always go to Virgin and Qantas in the future. Not worth it. I'd rather pay more and know that the airline I was flying with will actually deliver on the promise to their customers or compensate them/refund them if they can't. And yes, you wind up out of pocket because weeks have gone by and the fares just increase with every passing day. It's really not right. And you get these lame apologies from them but they don't care. They are the Ryanair of Australia....and look how nice they are to their customers! Jetstar passengers will be paying to go to the loo in no time.

I won't fly with them domestic, i use qantas now, 2000% better! Jetstar are a budget airline with poor attitude towards customers, I experienced the worst treatment with jetstar when they canceled a flight out of Tokyo and rerouted my plan out of Osaka. We had to change planes there and were treated like a heard of cattle, no one would talk to us and explain what was going on, litteraly, like animals, was horrible. Arrived 2 hours later, at least i made it i spose.
I stupidly booked a another Jeatstar flight to Osaka that leaves tomorrow, i put a buffer of 2 days between jetstar and the connecting flight, i have a feeling i might need it, the same flight that was to leave today was canceled. Bet there's a few pissed off people there.
