Flight Cancelled with only 3 hours notice...

My wife and I were in Sydney on Sunday the 27th march for our wedding anniversary. We flew there on the friday on LAN Chile and everything was fine.

We were due to fly out at 6.25pm on JQ205 for Auckland. We were sat at a resturant discussing getting a taxi to the airport, when at 3.40pm we received a text message from Jetstar saying our flight had been cancelled and ring this number for more information.

We rang the number provided and were told the flight had been cancelled, no reason was given, and we had two choices. 1) A full refund 2) transfer to an alternative Jetstar flight at 8.45pm on TUESDAY!! No compensation, no money for a hotel, nothing offered but an apoligy.

Long story short it cost us nearly $1,400 for Air NZ to fly us home that night. Jetstar will refund our $356 tickets in 3 weeks.

This is an absolute joke as when I booked 5 weeks before I could have flown Air NZ for $60 extra yet trusted Jetstar. What a joke this airline is. Do Not fly with them, they wont be around long.

A travel agent I told this story to informs me that they are in such financial trouble that when a plane isnt full and its uneconomical for them to fly it, meaning they would lose money, then they just cancel it. So instead of honoring my ticket Jetstar chose to strand my wife and I in Sydney.

Just not good enough guys. No customer service at all. The next day they processed my refund as if they were doing me a favour. Seriously, its my MONEY!!

Jetstar are in no way in

Jetstar are in no way in financial trouble, they are reporting record profits. Now you know why.. they 'bump' passengers for any reason available, often keeping passengers paid fare including taxes, and any time a flight is undersubscribed they cancel or reschedule the flight. They also enjoy what must be millions of dollars interest free by delaying refunds by several weeks each transaction.

Sydney Morning herald Feb 17, 2011 "Qantas profit soars..."

Never book with them again and spread the word..

here's the biggest catch, if

here's the biggest catch, if you accept a refund from what I can gather you wont see it for 3 months if at all.....still waiting for mind 2.5 months in.

I was scheduled to fly

I was scheduled to fly Bangkok to Singapore on Friday 1st April. I get to Bangkok airport and the sign says Jet Star flight cancelled. The jet star sales booth at the airport is closed. Nobody there at 11 am on a Friday! What a bloody joke this company is.

Dont get angry get even never

Dont get angry get even never use the bastards again and make sure your friends dont either. The love inconveniencing people. Its about time the people revolted against such tactics. Done use them or their owner Qantas.

As the above post says dont

As the above post says dont fly Qantas either I have to agree with that because the Qantas bosses allow the Jetstar bosses to perpetrate these acts upon the Australian public. I changed my custom to Virgin domestic and Singapore and Cathay and I have never regretted it.

anon i agree. virgin,

anon i agree. virgin, singapore and cathay, not to mention tiger, are all simply just better airlines. jet star really is the worst airline in the world.

actually, virgin is in

actually, virgin is in financial trouble, not jetstar. And I've been on a jetstar flight that had 7 people on it, after a cyclone evacuated the area I was flying from, and they didnt cancel that..? Go figure It costs more money to have an aircraft on the ground than it does to send it to it's destination half empty

Dear Anonymous, Jetstar are

Dear Anonymous, Jetstar are recording record profits, they are doing this by cancelling flights ensuring high occupancy rates. How can it cost more to have an aircraft on the ground than in the air? Really - please use the grey matter between your ears. Most airlines admit that half the costs are fuel. I'd say your flight was the exception rather than the rule. Qantas struggles to make profit, most western staffed airlines do including Virgin. Not Jetstar - on average Jetstar employees fly 4 times as many passengers as do Qantas.. which basically means Jetstar is under-staffed.. that's one reason they are in profit.. I am sure there are other reasons. Profit does not equal quality service though.

So you could've paid a measly

So you could've paid a measly $60 extra to fly on one of the worlds greatest airlines yet you still went with Jetstar?!

You thought with your pocket my friend, didn't you... And the sad thing is millions more will do exactley the same for the rest of forever because the mighty dollar rules...
