How on earth does someone get a refund on compassionate grounds?

I wrote the "Compassionate?" story. I was given the fax number 03 9349 5116 but every time I call I get a different number and am told it is either in Melbourne or Malaysia, no one on the phone knows and I have called ten times so far. Please help anyone. Thanks.

Simple answer, Paul. You

Simple answer, Paul.
You can't.
They give you the runaround just to make sure you can't get the refund you deserve.
I know it stinks. Welcome to Australia's No.1 Budget Airline.

provide documentation to

provide documentation to support your claim:

if you're sick - provide a med cert covering the travel dates on your booking
if a member of your travelling party is sick - same as above
if it due to death of a member in the booking or immediate family member of someone in the booking - letter from funeral home or copy of death certificate

there is NO timeframe for you to get the documents in, and the usual options available are:

waive change fees and only be charged fare difference (if any) or;
voucher to value of booking

if you are unable to travel for a period longer than 6 months than you can be entitled to a refund of your booking.

Thanks, I have given up on

Thanks, I have given up on asking for the fax number as too many calls and too many wrong answers. I went to Fair Trading. See if they can help. Not sure. Will let you know.

Also write your local federal

Also write your local federal memeber and copy the minister or transport in Canberra. This will help eventually get proper conusmer protection from these rougue practices. Encourage all your friends with Jetstar problems to do the same no matter how small. Australis consumer protection in airline business is poor comapred to other countries.

Thank you to the person that

Thank you to the person that clearly outlined the process. I faxed my documents through on the 6th after reading this post. I received my vouchers today plus a rep from the airline called and advised me that the reason it wasnt done the last time was because i didnt put my booking reference number which they need it to clearly state. Thanks Jetstar

fair trading wont be able to

fair trading wont be able to help you. Your ticket is non refundable. It isnt the airlines fault you have a compassionate issue. When you bought the ticket in the first place you were happy with no refunds. so why is now any different.

To Stacey - You're welcome

To Stacey - You're welcome but unfortunately it can be a drawn out process, I am glad that you got the resolution that you were after however and I do hope that you continue flying with Jetstar. :)
