Jet star hates surfers

Hey I haven't even flown Jetstar yet and I already regret purchasing flights with them.

Booked a package Holiday through RAC travel to Bali from Perth and my family leaves for the holiday mid April.

Despite Bali being a surfing Mecca for surfers travelling from Perth, today I uncovered that JetStar imposes a ban on all surfboards over 1.9mtrs or 6'3 in the old scale. This is apparently because it uses a smaller A320 plane even though it's an international flight.

So my Surfboards at 6'6in will be refused onboard

With every other airline I have travelled to Indo with, there has never been a problem with taking surfboards.

So Jetstar, you suck and RAC travel follow close behind.

When my mates discovered we were going Jetstar they told me all these horror stories about excess charges, poor sevice and damaged boards in transit. I laughed them off. How stupid am I now?

Indonesia-Denpasar (Bali)

Welcome To Jetstar. Put it

Welcome To Jetstar.

Put it was sort of your fault for nbot reading the Terms and Conditions for surfboards (btw, no one reads them so i dont blame you), next time choose Virgin Blue. They use bigger aircraft, Dont use qantas either.

for #@$% suck.. why did you

for #@$% suck.. why did you fly them. air asia is cheaper, flys more often, has new planes.. the chicks are hotter, and they love surfboards!

Boards over 1.9 metres don't

Boards over 1.9 metres don't physically fit in the baggage containers for A320's. All this info is on their website which is your (and your travel agents) responsibility to check before booking.

If I wanted to check every

If I wanted to check every detail of a travel booking I'd just veto the agent and book flights and accommodation myself as I have done before . Hey I got lazy and used an agent and they weren't up to speed.
When you say your going to Bali to go surfing and relax with your family a Travel agent, especially one in Perth, should ask whether you will be taking your own boards and advise you straight up the Jetstar eat Donkey Balls in this regard.
As it is, mine didn't have a clue or didn't give toss.
Just imagine how many people rock up to Perth airport and get told they can't travel with their board to Bali. It's freaking Bali! The people who pioneered travel to Bali were surfers for gods sake, and if not for surfers Bali would never have been a booming tourist hotspot and even now if you took surfers out of the equation it would cost the Industry and Airlines big bucks.
So show surfers some God Damned Respect Jetstar.

Doesn't change the fact it

Doesn't change the fact it won't fit in the hold containers.

At least it seems the

At least it seems the customer gets faster Jetstar customer service information on this website, rather than writing letters or listening to the Jetstar jingle on the phone waiting for an operator.. and I'd pretty much say that this complainant will be flying with another airline next time.

''Doesn't change the fact it

''Doesn't change the fact it won't fit in the hold containers''

Gee Lima it seems that AirAsia flys A320's to Denpasar from Perth and they seem to get luggage and Sporting eqipment on board their flights irrespective of their length.
To me it seems that this is a policy decision to use crates totally for baggage by JetStar so they can just throw everyone's baggage into containers willy nilly, and shove them on-board Saving JetStar time and money. Not a physical limitation of the plane's baggage capacity . This method would explain the high number of damaged luggage claims against JetStar.
If that's the way JetStar wants to operate fine but the Dozy cow at the travel agents shouldn't have booked me with them.
As it Stands I'll be sending my Boards with a mate on an Identical plane the same day but with Airasia..a surfer, sportsman friendly airline.

remmy your a dickhead, an AKH

remmy your a dickhead, an AKH container is 6.3ft at its largest point. AKH containers are used in both A320, A321 and with jetstar, A330 aircraft. I have managed to squeeze oversize surfboards into the container, but only if it is practically empty as it requires alot of manouvering to get it to fit, anything more than 6 bags and its a no go.

Occasionally we can fit them into the bulk hold of the aircraft, but only if there is enough space, and we have the permission of the aircraft captian.

Next time, read the T's & C's when you book

bullshit, ive seen dem fit

bullshit, ive seen dem fit in! if u jus try harder and pit it in properz its gonna fit! dont call me a dickhead, boy, at leest i can fit a simple surfy into a space. and dont lie about day space, akh containers r +9ft easy. stop lieing.
Remster.

remmy, an AKH container is

remmy, an AKH container is 6.3ft, not 9ft. There is no way an oversize surfboard will fit into a container that contains other bags without been damaged. If your a rampie (i hope to god your not) and your trying to jam these into a container then I finally know where all the compaints about broken boards are coming from.

your a dumbass. dont fly

your a dumbass. dont fly jetstar if your going to complain. its bogans like you that winge and complain cause your not educated enough to read your terms and conditions.

Rex, aided by virgin,

Rex, aided by virgin, arranged for my board to be taken for free when Jetstar refused to take it - go the alternative.
