Jetstar Australia's Worst Airline Trying to Get From Gold Coast to Hawaii

Although I appreciate mechanical faults and failures can cause delays and I’ll be the first to say I would prefer a functioning plane than to make the front page of the news on another Qantas Boeing 747 disaster. What I do not appreciate is being lied to and treated like total crap by Jetstar customer service personnel. My most recent Jetstar experience included flight delays, rude and patronising personnel, filthy planes and missing my international flight.

I am writing to you, like many other Australians that have fallen victim to Jetstar delays and poor customer service. I sit here in a hotel next to the airport having to wait 24 hours for another flight, when I should be in a conference meeting in Hawaii. Instead my family and I (including my 14 month old son) are stuck here waiting for our late night Qantas flight QF3 on the 2nd of March 2011.

We waited for hours at Coolangatta airport as our Jetstar flight from the Gold Coast was delayed. When we finally departed Gold Coast airport the plane we were on was filthy. The seats were covered in left over food, chewing gum stuck to the food trays and yes, a filthy tissue still in the seat that my infant grabbed and nearly stuck in his mouth. Seriously Jetstar, you are a disgrace to the Australian airline industry. It is no wonder why QANTAS staff talk so badly of their low cost carrier. When we talk low cost we do not have to accept low service or no service standards.

We arrived at Sydney and collected all our luggage from Sydney domestic airport by 4.52pm. The Jetstar International flight to Hawaii was set to depart from the International airport at 6pm. Jetstar made no attempt to transfer our luggage from our domestic flight to the international flight and refused to allow us to check our luggage past 5pm. As a result of their flight delays and refusal to help us make our connecting flight we were unable to board our flight to Hawaii. Instead we are stuck in a hotel for a night. If they had we would have checked in with plenty of time to spare and all would have been okay. Jetstar: being a budget airlines does not mean you can compromise on customer service and human decency.

As I have said before and

As I have said before and will say again, just because Jetstar is a low cost carrier should not mean that they provide poor customer service. They are consistently bad. Now, I will just wait for a Jetstar employee to defend the airline.

Great write up Paul! When we

Great write up Paul!
When we talk low cost we do not have to accept low service or no service standards.

John - Am not going to defend

John - Am not going to defend on this one. There's no excuse for any of that except that as part of keeping costs low, through checking bags isn't offered unless you're connecting from a QF domestic flight to a JQ international flight. In terms of the delay that is just very bad luck, but the cleanliness issues are very poor. I hope Paul is not the one paying for the hotel.

Paul, you really should be

Paul, you really should be more careful in your choice of words. What do you mean by " another Qantas Boeing 747 disaster" When was the first one???
When you use throw away inaccurate lines like that it makes me take the rest of your tale with a grain of salt.
As for Travis. Mate, low cost does mean low service. You get what you pay for.

Really, Bob? If low cost

Really, Bob? If low cost means low service, then Jet Star have got no fucking excuse and nothing to back them up.

Do Jetstar actually clean

Do Jetstar actually clean their planes? I bet not. It'll be the last time I have a wank in one of their toilets. So unsanitary.

not at all john from what ive

not at all john from what ive seen there was stuff hiden bestween the seats like candys tuff and even a spoon stuck there. which was gross. I say jetstar get a life.

Even the jetstar staff helpers are not very friendly at all. i cant believe i came across to an evil airline as them/

If i was someone to force this i would send the health inspectors to have a look around we dont want our kids and family to be of any ill or virus around.

More importantly here, we are

More importantly here, we are the customer we are not the trash, yet the trash get the free ride we just get taken for a ride.

Jetstar are a mob of money sucking parasites, that love to treat their customers like crap, they have all these great ads on TV making the staff look like saints, just wait to you step on board.

When you step on board you better just squash right in and shut up, because God help you if you speak up. They are a JOKE.

Hey Bob, just saw you comment

Hey Bob, just saw you comment about me commenting on the Qantas 747 disaster. "What do you call a hole in the side of a Qantas 747 "a near disaster?" or just bad luck?

Australian authorities opened an investigation into what caused a section of the fuselage of a Qantas airliner to burst open en route from Hong Kong to Melbourne, Australia, forcing the Boeing 747-400 to make an emergency landing in Manila.

The jumbo jet, which carried 346 passengers and 19 crew members still landed safely and those on board left without injury. I was still say that a piece of fuselage the size of a sedan that ripped from the plane is a disaster it was never a walk in the park. Qantas Flight 30, had been forced to descend steeply to 10,000 feet from 29,000 feet.

Passengers described hearing a loud bang and seeing debris fly into the cabin. As the plane depressurized, oxygen masks dropped from the ceiling and cabin crew members shouted to passengers to put them on.

“There were reports of a terrific boom and bits of wood and debris just flew forward” into the first-class area, a passenger, Dr. June Kane reported seeing this. Was this a disaster BOB, oh maybe not but it could have been especially if the debris starting cutting people in half.

Another passenger, Phill Restall, of Chippenham, England, said that he was awakened by the sound of what the authorities said may have been an explosive decompression.

Well Bob, maybe not a disaster but bloody close, good luck played out for QANTAS on all the passengers this day, thank God.

Cheers Bob, thanks for your comments.
