Jetstar & Those Ridiculous "Hidden Fees"

I'll admit it.

Like many others before me, I have flown Jetstar, had a bad experience in more ways than one – and then go back to fly with them again.

Why do we do it!

The answer lies within the art of deceit, thus being deceived.

Remember when Jetstar got into a sh*tload of trouble for its "hidden fees" catastrophe in the past few years .... more than once? Well I'm here to tell you that they actually haven't changed anything.

Being a Kiwi living in Aus, I got sucked in by a great deal to Auckland from Melbourne during the travel period of a wedding I need to go back for next year. Perfect timing I thought!

Why not capitalise right?

Check out the total price breakdown for two adults to fly return to Auckland from Melbourne + my notes in brackets.

- - - - - -
Fare + Bundle = $284.36 AUD (not too bad)
Inflight Entertainment Fees = $36.00 AUD (standard these days .... $9 PP per way)
Meal Fee = $16.00 AUD (um, what? But I purchased the bundle deal which includes meals?!)
- - - - - -
Third Party Charges = $78.00 AUD? (um, what?)
Travel Charge = $97.16 AUD (um, seriously what the hell is this?)
Booking and Service Fee = $34.00 AUD (is this supposed to be my credit card fee? Booking + service fees implies paperwork ... credit card fees implies a SURCHARGE).
- - - - - -
DepartureTax = $110.00 AUD (standard ... )
- - - - - -
Total Price = $655.52 AUD

-_-

Some might argue this is a good price for two adult return tickets to Auckland and back.

Some might ague that this is supposed to be an airline aimed at cheaper means of travel, and that price is sh*t-house given all of those extra fees.

If you're a normal person like myself, you'll argue that all of those fees in the middle is where the issue with Jetstar lies, and why this website probably exists.

Seriously – this will be the last time I fly with Jetstar.

I recently booked a flight

I recently booked a flight from Brisbane to Melbourne. What started out to be a $340. Advertised fligt Finished up being $404. . You must pay a booking charge but no other way to buy the ticket

Surely there were other

Surely there were other airlines that cost more than the $284 but less than the final $604 ? I recently paid more to fly Qantas to Japan instead of Jetstar but actually came out ahead cos by the time you add those hidden costs Jetstar charges , it was dearer. Motto is, I'd rather pay $50 more with a proper airline and not have these hassles knowing full well my higher priced ticket is ALL INCLUSIVE.........unlike Jetstar.
