So you went to Darwin for a

So you went to Darwin for a holiday, there was a cyclone, and it is Jetstars fault?

Did you have travel insurance? Does it cover cyclones?

Is there more to this story?

you are obviously jetstar

you are obviously jetstar staff go in the call centre your staff are shit
im with you at a current affair

read the terms and conditions

read the terms and conditions on you ticket, and this will apply to any australian airline,

9.2 Changes due to circumstances beyond our controlWhere a delay or cancellation is caused by circumstances beyond our control, whether you have checked in or not, Jetstar will try to assist you to get to your destination, but will not be responsible for paying any costs or expenses you may incur as a result of the delay or cancellation, unless otherwise required by law.

Weather is not something that they can control

The Jetstar Customer Guarantee states in section 5

Many things can happen, and issues may arise on the day you’re travelling with us. Some of these may be within our control or some may not, like the weather or air traffic congestion.

.........

If on the day you’re due to travel we have confirmed a delay of more than 30 minutes or we cancel your flight, and we are aware of the delay or cancellation more than two hours before the scheduled departure time, then we commit to:

advise you or your travel agent via SMS and/or time permitting a phone call, using the relevant contact details provided in your booking;
if you are not available and your voicemail is active, we will leave you a message; and
if your flight is cancelled, offer alternative transport arrangements to get you to your destination at no additional cost to you, usually on the next available Jetstar flight before or after your booked flight.

so now they say that their own terms and conditions over ride their guarantee!!

So you "didn't get to have a

So you "didn't get to have a holiday" because of a natural disaster, that's a shame, but as you say, you still TRAVELLED - therefore you received what you paid for, a seat on a plane which flew you where you wanted to go. It isn't Jetstar's responsibility to ensure you enjoy your holiday once you disembark from the plane, it's their responsibility to get you there in the first place - no airline in their right mind would refund a flown ticket on the basis that the people who flew "didn't enjoy their holiday"... so many people have tried this line it isn't even funny. (No... I take that back, it IS pretty funny.)

the point is that they did

the point is that they did NOT fly us home!! they flew us 90% of the way and told us to make our own way.

They did not honor the ticket they sold us

David, what are you even

David, what are you even talking about? I was responding to the original post by Maria, and neither that post nor your reply underneath it mentions anything about not reaching your intended destination - you'll excuse me for supposedly missing the point when you didn't even make it in the first place.

But okay, I'll bite: yes they did honour the ticket they sold you, because your ticket confirms a seat on an airplane and a reasonable attempt to get you as close to your intended destination as they can, so unless you didn't get on a plane at all they honoured your ticket whether you think so or not (which doesn't matter anyway because in the eyes of the law you agreed with these terms and conditions the moment you confirmed your booking). Pretty rough I'll agree but the lesson you should take from this is read every term and condition carefully before you agree to anything!
