Sent to wrong departure lounge by JetStar attendant and missed my flight home

On the 3rd January 2011 I was dropped at Auckland Airport to check in for my flight to Wellington. The que for two planes that were checking in at the same time (one for Wellington and one for Christchurch) was right out the door onto the footpath absolute mayhem. An attendant from Jetstar helped me to check in on the kiosk he handed me the boarding pass and directed me up the stairs on the right hand side to the departure lounge. Eventually I realised that the people round me had all boarded a aircraft to(wait for it) Christchurch. I made my way to the security people to ask them where the aircraft to Wellington was leaving from, they directed me back down the stairs and back along the terminal through yet another security check and down the corridor to another departure lounge. The doors where shut to go upstairs to the aircraft although they were still loading luggage onboard. A kind airport security officer went through the doors and up the stairs to see if I could board the aircraft. She came back and said no that they had off loaded me. I was five minutes late and then sat there for another fifteen before the aircraft eventually left the terminal. When I talked to the Jetstarstaff about the fact that I was sent to the wrong departure lounge they automatically blamed me. I was offered another flight to Wellington but it was the next day. No amount of discussions led to any help for me at all. I had to buy another ticket from Air New Zealand so that I could return home. Jetstar just do not get the meaning of the words "customer service" I will never ever travel with them again and I would advise anyone reading this blog to do the same.

Agree this website is for

Agree this website is for compaints and advise to other travellers about the bad experiences people have had with Jetstar - I have booked three flights with them in the past and only one of them came about and was sucessful the other two I had to purchase new tickets from Air New Zealand. I also work for a large organisation where many many of my colleagues have also had terrible experiences with Jeststar so I reiterate DON'T TRAVEL JETSTAR - and staff go start your own website.

I think that if you cannot

I think that if you cannot work out how to get to your own departure gate on time yourself then you are an absolute wally.

Macca truer words were never spoken! I know - lets blame somebody else for my own stupidity. I wonder how all those other people managed to get on the right plane?
