Jetstar Complaints

Jetstar refuses to give us pre-booked hot meal with Plus bundle

I recently booked two return flights PER-DPS-PER with Jetstar (JQ116 outbound, JQ111 inbound) from their website and added the Plus bundle (40$ each flight pp, $160 in total), which said it would include a hot meal (and other benefits). Everything went fine on the outbound flight to Bali, but on the return flight, the stewardess refused to give us the entitled meals. She said there was no record of it on the manifest and the "Plus" option on the boarding pass and itinerary does not mean that a meal is included.

After a lengthy and embarrassing discussion in front of the other...

12 Year Old In 6 Not 7

So I was scheduled to fly with jester too to Melbourne from Hobart. I turn up at the airport and the guy asks me all the questions how old are you etc, then he asks me what grade I'm in i say six and he says I'm sorry you can't fly i had two other flights connecting to thailand and then too germany it was unbelievable so they'll let a 12 year 7 go on board but not a twelve year old year six. The even more ridiculous thing is i had just finished year six literally the day before i even had a orientation day in year seven doing all the subjects and every and i have too say i do not look that...

1.9meter Limit sucks surfers beware

Just the other day after looking for flight to bali in May. I booked with jetstar.
I was having a good read of all their terms and came across the 1.9meter limit on the length of checked baggage. I spoke to them twice within 24 hours after paying and I was told there was nothing i could do, no refunds and i had to send my boards by some other means. You can only carry a board which is 6'2 or under which i would say alienates 90% of surfers out there. My main board i use is 7'0
I am seriously thinking of just letting the money go after reading everything on here and booking...

Not really a complaint, but a story I thought y'all would appreciate.

I measured my luggage, and found that it was slightly too big. So I called Jetstar to see what could be done. The representative I spoke to said she couldn't help, as it was "the airport's discretion."

So I called Auckland airport. They said, "it's definitely not up to us, who would say that?" I told them I was flying Jetstar. The lady at the airport said... and these are her words exactly...

"Not them again, I'm sick of this... Did you call the 0800 number? Don't listen to that call centre, don't you know it's in the Philippines?

Priceless. I'm...

Let's do a comparison

Now I'm not necessarily a price sensitive customer and I never buy a ticket (or anything for that matter) just because it's the cheapest. When I say I'll never fly Jetstar again I actually mean it. I don't care how cheap they are. But it saddens me that half the people who have complained on this website will probably fly Jetstar again if the price is right. This just gives operators like Jetstar permission to continue with their squalid and sordid trade practices and with their appalling customer service. But for those of you who are price sensitive I've collected an example from both...

The flight that never took place

We paid for my brothers flight from Melbourne to Brisbane to attend my Aunty's 90th birthday party. We were all ready in Queensland because of the QANTAS strike he was stranded in Melbourne because we'd booked him with QANTAS. Luckily we got him a flight with Jetstar for the day before Aunty's actual birthday. Yippee! Webjet was used to book his flight. This had caused his seat to be charged twice to our credit charge at a greatly increased fee. On his way to the airport he was invlolved in an accident. I let Jetstar know this and they assured us that he would be looked after and if...

Not even a free drink!!!

Ok so my story isnt anywhere near as bad as the ones I have read but thought I would share anyway! Not long ago I was flying to Perth from Adelaide and we were meant to board the plane at 10am but of course the flight is delayed so we didnt get to board until the time were were meant to leave! We all finally get on the plane only to be told we will be sitting there for another 40 minutes due to a mechanical fault. Now these things happen and need to be fixed but for the inconvenience, you would think they would have offered a free cup of tea or coffee but not jetstar because they are a...

Staff entered wrong date for my flight then blamed me for the srew up.

I was originally booked to fly from Sydney to Darwin on Thursday 8th December. I called Jetstar to change this date and asked to fly on Sunday 11th December. When I showed up at the airport I was told that I was booked for Sunday 18th December. I was then palmed off to the service desk who then palmed me off to the supervisor. This supervisor had the nerve to blame me for the screw up (even though Jetstar staff made the mistake) and accused me of lying. When I told her it was Jetstar's screw up she said "Is that a way to talk to me if you want my help?" Then when I told her she was being...

Flights Delayed, No Compensation & Disgraceful Customer Service

This pales compared to a lot of stories on here, but I thought I would share anyway. We should call Jetstar Jester, as they are a joke!

We flew up to Gold Coast to attend my brother's 40th birthday party for the weekend in Lismore. We were due to fly back Sunday night but they called us at lunchtime (at least they managed to give us some notice) to tell us that our flight had been cancelled and the earliest flight they could get us was midday the next day. At first I was reasonable, asking if there was any possibility of catching a different flight on the Sunday, leaving earlier if...

Jetstar Staff reflect their business

On Thursday the 1st of December, myself and my partner Jeremy Thomason were due to fly with Jetstar at 6:25pm to Melbourne (Avalon). I had already checked in that day over the web (SMS boarding pass) and arrived at 5pm. Arriving so early we decided to go Subway, which is located in the food court in the Qantas area (I later found out by another angry Jetstar customer that announcements by Jetstar are not made in other airline areas, even the food courts, which would have been helpful to know). We then proceeded to our appropriate gate which we had taken note of before eating. When we...

WORKING HOLIDAY VISA EXPIRED

We are french and we have a australian working holiday visa, it's very important to know this for the next. We travelled with Jetstar on 17th september, flight JQ 205 from Sydney to Auckland. In order to make our check-in we went at Jet star office H10-18. Your hostess, Nancy, told us ; you can't take this flight because your visas are expired since the 14th september 2011, we were very surprised to hear it. We tried to explain her the fact this type of visa permit to stay in Australia during one year, and we arrived the 26th december 2010. She didn't want to hear us so we asked her to...

Against Jetstar : My Broken Guitar

First of all, my name is Shaneil Ramon Devaser, and on November 13th, 2011, I flew Jetstar from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur via Singapore. It was most probably my worst flight experience ever. Here's the story that I feel should be shared with all who have ever felt the same about airline baggage services.

On November 13th, 2011, before my departure from Melbourne, I was forced by Jetstar into checking in my most prized guitar, which was insufficiently padded, worth a hefty sum and of great sentimental value to me, else I would not be allowed to board my flight. Like any other...

Ridiculous excess baggage fee

I was flying from Melbourne to Sydney this afternoon. When checking in at the counter the staff told that my hand-carry Baggage was too large and I was forced to add 20kg checked baggage for $80 or $15 per kg! This was really ridiculous and as a tourist to Australia I felt so unhappy with what they have charged me. This has made a bad impression for me towards Australia.

An update to ‘flight delayed for 12hrs n left high and dry’

Even though my old issue still haven’t been resolved by Jetstar, they have created another screw-up out of nowhere just to make my experience with them that much worse and more difficult.

I recently changed my name legally by grant to go with my application of NZ citizenship. In accordance to the time frame given by Internal Affairs, I never thought I’d get my citizenship and NZ passport on time for my trip to the Gold Coast scheduled at the end of Dec this year so I booked the return flights with my original name on my old passport. All the other troubles regarding the delay and...

Extortianate excess baggage charges

Some months ago my husband and I were flying to Beijing to commence a 1year overseas trip. As the flight left from Sydney we had a domestic sector from the Gold Coast to Sydney at 6am. A couple of hours before we left my husband had an accident and had some glass chips embedded in his arms and face. This caused us to almost miss the flight. We arrived at the airport (with my husband obviously distressed and covered in blood) and were told by an extemely arrogant and rude check-in chick that we had too much luggage. We asked if we could remove some if we could just have 5 minutes....

What good is a Jetstar voucher if I'm never going to fly Jetstar again?!

After having us wait on the tarmac for an hour and a half, the captain finally announced that he had to cancel the flight. Flights get cancelled so I was reasonably forgiving (Jetstar seems to have more cancellations than others but you get what you pay for). They then announced that as it was the last flight of the night, they would pick up dinner and hotel bills up to $150. I had to get to work the next day so I got my wife to book me the first flight out in the morning. It turned out to be a little more expensive but still cheap.

The next day I rang up to sort out my refund. The...

JETSTAR SHOULD RENAME THEMSELVES "SHITSTAR"

jETSTAR DO NOTHING BUT SHIT ON PEOPLE. wE HAD FLIGHTS BOOKED TO A SPECIAL FAMILY OCCASION ON THE 1ST DEC 2011. 10 DAYS AGO WE GOT A CALL SAYING OUR FLIGHT OVER WAS CANCELLED. WE EITHER HAD TO GO A DAY BEFORE OR A DAY AFTER. IF WE GO A DAY BEFORE I HAVE TO TAKE MORE TIME OFF WORK WITHOUT PAY AND WE HAVE TO GET EXTRA STAFF TO WORK IN OUR BUSINESS (MORE MONEY WHICH I DON'T SEE JETSTAR OFFERING TO COMPENSATE). A WEEK LATER WE HAD EN EMAIL FROM JETSTAR TO SAY OUR FLIGHT HOME HAS CHANGED BY 5 MINS. TRIED TO CONFIRM VIA EMAIL BUT TO NO AVAIL. RANG JETSTAR WHO INFORMED ME THAT FLIGHT WAS CANCELLED...

flight delayed for 12hrs n left high n dry

Me and four of my friends planned a holiday to the Gold Coast for New Years as one of us is relocating to Australia so we wanted to spend some quality and fun time with him before he goes. Thinking we were being smart and organised and wanting to avoid the holiday rush, we booked our flights with Jetstar at the beginning of July alongside our accommondation and other activities. All was nice and well until I received an email in my inbox 10 days ago telling me that our flight has been delayed for nearly 12 hours and will now arrive in the Gold Coast at 7pm on the 30th Dec instead of 7am. I...

Changing a name on the ticket

To all potential customers who are not 100% sure if they or somebody else will use the flight be careful. My daughter who is a uni student bought $89 tickets for herself and a friend to go to Sydney as a special treat to see the Harry Potter expo. She bought the tickets in advance to save money. Unfortunately her friend was unable to go due to new job commitments and so myself, her Mum decided to go with her.
Change to destination ticket $50 admin
Change to home ticket $50 admin
Difference between old ticket price and new down and back $385, but it still worked out $18...

Cancelled Flight

I have received an email cancelling my flight just 2 weeks in advance as they have changed their operational plan. No options have been given and the telephone number given for queries has a recorded message saying that it is the wrong number! The email address given for contact is ignored.

I am left with no way of contacting these cowboys and they clearly don't care at all about their customers.

I will never use Jet star again and will tell everyone I know not to use them. How can you trust a Company that changes its flights for their own gain without considering their...

Jetstar took off despite there are faults with the plane.

Personal experience while flying from Bali to Singapore this Mar.
Jetstar tried to take off despite there are system faults with the airplane. When the plane was about to take off from the runway, it suddenly stops. Engineer was requested to come on broad and rectified the issue. Passengers was told they will try to fix the issues. It took more an hour to have the issue fixed. Even after the issue is fixed, they need to refill the fuel. I have doubts if Jetstar planes have sufficient allowance of fuel to cater to any unforeseen issues when it happen.
Jetstar is very...
